Regulate, don't break up. Level the playing field to allow competition.

Warren is ignoring something very important. We are not forced to use Google or Facebook. There are other search engines and other social networking platforms to choose from. Moreover, tech dominance tends to be fleeting. Back in 2007, some experts were saying that "MySpace Is a Natural Monopoly" (to quote the title of an article published in Tech News World). That didn't last long, and somehow I suspect that Facebook's reign won't last forever either. None of the tech companies Warren is targeting control a true monopoly over a vital public service, like AT&T did prior to the government breaking it up in the early 1980s. I suspect that any government attempt to break up one of these companies wouldn't survive a Supreme Court challenge.

If that's the case, then break up AT&T which is a monopoly in itself. I agree with the GDPR.

As a small business entrepreneur, What she is saying does make some sense. As is always the case, too much power in the hands of too few is never a good thing and the tech giants are a great example. You tube "redirecting their search engines", Google doing the same, microsoft being the only game in town with their office application, facebook & twitter ( media giants), amazon (retail), you get the picture. If the government actually had oversight to limit the abuse of power that goes on it would be fine, but it doesn't, so there really is a problem. Case in point; some years ago a fellow made headlines by creating software that eliminated pop - up advertizing on your device with 100% efficiency (how cool is that). Within days the story was gone, the technology buried, and the inventor is long gone with his cache of zillions that was paid to him for the technology. Good for him I say, but is it really a good thing overall? I say allow the technology for now, someone else figures away around it and brings it back with newer technology, and on and on it goes as a healthy, creative, competitive
