Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn were a German duo who captured the amazement of crowds around the world with their stage performances. They initially met on a cruise ship and began performing together in the 1960s. They wowed audiences with their circus-like acts and dazzling magic shows.

Siegfried and Roy quickly built a name for themselves and by 1990, they were offered an incredible opportunity to work at The Mirage in Las Vegas. These shows were extravagant and unique. Each year some 400,000 people watched their acts. They were perhaps most famous for performing with white tigers and lions. Headlining in Vegas propelled them into stardom and fame. They performed to sell-out crowds for 13 years until, in 2003, their show came crashing to a tragic end.

These amazing animals should be viewed from a distance and well respected. They are magnificent creatures and don’t deserve to be a show for humans.

As Chris Rock once put it. "That tiger didn't go crazy, that tiger went tiger.".

The tiger never lived in the wild; yet, he knew how to go for the throat. Natural instinct

And the moral of the story - leave wild animals in the wild.

These magnificent animals were not designed as performers in a magic show, they were designed to be in the wild and have our deepest respect.

I saw the show in the 90 in the Mirage. My husband and I had seats next to the stage and I was truly shocked that we were so close to such a big and dangerous animal. That was very frightening to me. If I would have known that there were no fences or anything, I would not have gone there. Very surprised that nothing bad happened for so many years.

Animals 'performing' on stage is cruel, they do not belong there. I find it upsetting to see these beautiful creatures being used for entertainment. Fortunately, alot of govts agree.

Since the video was never released, we cannot know the truth but the fact is that Manticore was a male tiger. Male tigers do not "pull people/cubs" to safety by the throat. Males do not have this instinct, so it was not to protect Roy.

The front row of the crowd was right there by the stage. Imagine if that tiger wanted to jump on someone in the crowd, there'd be nothing anyone could do about it but watch someone die.

How to be Tiger safe! Don't keep them as pets and stop showing off!

I really feel sad for the man..the fact that he said to not shoot the animal...he really loved the animal.

It’s sad that all 3 are no longer here Siegfried, Roy, and Mantacore. RIP.

I had a tiger charge me once with only a chain link fence separating us.

It was at a rescue site for wild animals on top of a mountain in Alabama of all places. They had to open the facility to admissions to raise the money they needed to take care of the animals. Their hearts were in the right place.

That day there were school children on a field trip and they were screaming and carrying on. In the midst of the tiger being annoyed with them, I twisted my ankle coming down some steps near his enclosure. Lucky for me a trainer was also watching when I hurt my ankle because the tiger charged at me. The trainer quickly explained to my husband and I why he thought the tiger did that and told my husband to get me out of the park immediately.

I’m sure the tiger was probably hungry, too. He saw me as injured prey and therefore an easy kill for food. I will never forget the look in that tiger’s eyes as he approached me.

Amen to that. They are not pets. No matter how well you take care of them they deserve to be in their natural habitat.

He was asking for it. Wild animals should not be enslaved for human entertainment. But props to him for telling them not to shoot the lion.

I saw this show and was seated down in front even though I purchased a seat in the nosebleed section. In that performance Roy brought a lion (not tiger) right up to my face. It's amazing no one got hurt by any of the wild animals and ironic that the only person who did was Roy himself.

You can take a tiger from the wild, but you can't take the wild from a tiger. They have natural instincts in their DNA, like we do, and things like self-preservation instinct is something we also have. The cat was obviously scared and then confused why his owner started being aggressive towards him while the hairy fella is just trying to protect himself...

I remember when this happened. Animals sense things and it's apparent this tiger did. These still are wild tigers. Unfortunate this happened.

Great content. I despise animals used and exploited for people's self interest. If they really had a heart for these tigers they wouldn't be using them against nature for their own gain. Furthermore, Las Vegas would be the last place in the world a tiger would want to be, as it's entirely contrary to their natural habitat and what tigers enjoy.
