I don't think I've ever heard this played more beautifully!

Just purchased a year long subscription to the digital concert hall and trust me, it is COMPLETELY worth the money. You get discounts if you are a student/ live in the U.S.A. No, I am not getting paid by Berlinphil to say this.

Wonderful interpretation of the Berliner Philharmoniker in Schoenberg in the hands of Sir Simon Rattle. Congratulations! Greetings from Brazil.

Nice, it was just in my CD player (Sinopoli performance) :) This is without doubt one of the best pieces of classical music ever written. Great performance too!

Quite true, I was just making the point that people think Schoenberg only wrote that sort of music, when in fact he wrote such beautiful pieces as this and many others!

This is actually not post-romanticism, but actual (very, I give you that) late romanticism.

Oh, that first second when music poured through my speakers. Bliss!

Simon Rattle and Rowan Atkinson did a bit at the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, performing the famous theme from "Chariots of Fire". Rattle did a facial expression here which I shall never forget!

The Berlin Philharmonic is so good that they make Verklarte Nacht sound easy.

Good performance! Rattle's one of the best for this music. Also, listen to the original with the Julliard, et al.

Ah, got it. Thanks. Sounds like great fun. Unfortunately, all online videos of the ceremony seem to have been blocked. Well, so be it. Thanks again.

Isso é maravilhoso...sem mais. :'-)

I like many of his works regardless of the theory behind them. The Piano Concerto, several solo piano works, Second String Quartet, String Trio, the two Chamber Symphonies, late choral works, "Pierrot Lunaire."

I don't know why this piece is not better known. Seems like a ready made thematic device in a feature film so that it would be heard, maybe not understood, maybe not appreciated for it's place in musical history, but at least a few people would seek out more information about it.

this orchestra still has Karajan's sound.

And people think Schoenberg is all boring serialism!
