The guy that taught my automotive tech associate degree classes always called them Snap-off, as in rip-off. Almost 20 years working on everything from cars to ship board diesels, to A/C and industrial hydraulics and I can honestly say i agree with him.

Outside of very heavy diesel, i would put icon over snap on all day. "YeAh BuT tHe WaRrAnTy BrO" yeah when the snapon guy treats you like a peasant thief for the warranty you paid for

I have all snap on tools and a snap on box for work (aircraft mechanic), but after 5 years of using it, ill take my Husky box at home with soft close drawers any day. Snap on really is just a brand name.

Harbor freight is really going hard with quality to price. Feels like the early 2000s where you could buy the cheaper product but it worked well. I just bought 2 from lowes for $12. hoping they are nice like harbor.

Harbor freight is actually stepping up. They used to only be good for tarps and step bits.

That US general box is an actual tool box. It has slides to deal with the weight of the tools in it. The other two are novelty boxes that are not designed to hold tools. Compare an Icon from Harbor Freight to a SnapOn Epic series. I would like to see those results.

I have a US general 5 drawer at work. It’s been an absolutely fantastic box. No one has snap on. But compared to other budget brands the harbor freight boxes are fantastic

I got the last one at harbor freight on Black Friday for $9 I wasn’t expecting the build quality to be so good and was shocked how good it was

I bought a snap on box as an apprentice before I left that trade. I'll tell ya this, yes, the snap on is using better parts generally, or at that time anyway, but costs 3 times more. This was in like 2015 so things could be totally different. Haven't wrenched professionally in 6 years but still have the box and all my tools in the garage.

The one thing I loved about it then and to this day is that it's got the depth that you almost never find in a cheap box. I don't need fancy, but I don't like shallow toolboxes.

It was a green master series I want to say it's a krl something.

Anyone who has ever been any sort of a mechanic professionally knows Snap-On is a rip off.

Ball bearing slides can hold less weight than friction slides. The balls can push the two welded halves of the slide apart, whereas friction slides have a tendency to slightly curve when excessive weight has been placed inside them.
