He does know that with Tinker's Construct, you can repair TC tools with just some of the materials you use to make it, in this case Iron or paper, and it will cheaply repair alot.

TC tools will NEVER disappear when broken, they just say "broken" then you can repair them with more materials. Auto-repair would be more for more expensive tools like cobalt and manyllum (sp). To repair a tool, put it in the modifiers part of the tool station, and add the material you used to make it with on the left.

You could just use four redstone engines to power the pump

don't waste energy on the pump, just use 4 redstone engines. It will be more then sufficient
