I Didn’t Think I’d Like the Fujifilm GFX100RF

What happens if you cram a massive 102-megapixel medium format sensor into a compact camera barely bigger than a Fujifilm X100 body? You get the Fujifilm GFX100RF! And where would you go to test such a camera? How about Prague! Chris Niccolls has spent a lot of time with this new camera, and his opinion has certainly changed over time.

I am very glad this does not have IBIS so I don't have to buy it!

In the digital era I wouldn't have thought it was physically possible to create a camera that size and have a medium format sensor in it. Impressive from Fujifilm once again.
Now it remains to be seen whether you need 100+ megapixels or not. I think Im good with 100V for now.

this camera doesnt need IBIS. it is literally made for dentists.. and they have pretty steady hands

the pronounciation of český krumlov was spot on. the images from Prague are very cozy, they feel like home, the train station platform and the random architectural details feel like photos I would make

The best series of photos taken among all the reviews made by other YouTubers to illustrate the qualities of this new and very beautiful Fuji camera body.

The 3:4 vertical kind of makes sense because the screen only tilts and doesn't flip. For example, if you were to go down on your knees to shoot low, but wanted to shoot vertically, you would have no way to look at the screen. This way, you keep the camera horizontal and can look at the screen, but then output a vertical photo. Not a fan, but I can see its benefit.

12:13 Gotta be honest, between the aspect ratio and the B&W, this *really* looks like Jordan is dropping a singer-songwriter acoustic album.

Incredible review as always! Camera isn’t in my niche, but really cool to see what Fuji can accomplish.

Can't wait for this to still be backordered 9 months despite the price

Chris, I know you’ve been hearing this a lot lately, but these are, in my opinion, the best photos you’ve taken for a review. The one at 13:20 especially blew me away!

Fujifilm has created something really special and I would love to get one! The 28mm equiv. is exactly what I was asking for in the x100 and the extra wheel just for different crops (yay x-pan format) is just fantastic!
Having some ibis would have been great but there probably wasn’t any more room…

Anyways, I’ll see if I can sell a kidney or two.

Is anyone else reminded of the Mamiya 7/7II with this new offering from Fuji? I know I know the Mamiya 7 was not a fixed lens camera, nor is the Fuji even remotely a rangefinder, even less so now that they have made it purely EVF rather than hybrid, but there is still more than a ring of Mamiya 7 about it in terms of shape, size and lens. F/4 is what all the Mamiya 7 lenses were albeit on a much large recording surface area (so the DOF would be different), but it's still kind of in that mould of camera. Heck, stick a big flash on top of that thing and you're channeling your inner Mary Ellen Mark in a moment.

I might get one for travel. I love that the camera does not have a brand on the front and the weather sealing.

I would happily buy this if I could. I don't care at so about the lack of ibis. I care a little bit about not being an f2.8, but not a lot and for the price, whether or not I can justify it on a side camera, it's very fair value

Excellent review as always. This camera is right up my alley. I'm a traveler and environmental portrait guy and this camera has got me very excited. Thanks so much for the very illuminating first look!

F4, no ibis, and the price isn't very far from a gfx100s II with a 35-70 lens. If they had included either a faster lens or ibis this would make more sense. As is I don't understand the appeal vs the gfx100s.
