I'm 71 years old, raised in an evangelical church. I have spent most of my life as a pastor's wife. I have seen the slippery slope that our churches have gone down. We need to PRAY for our leaders, for a revival in our churches. It is America's only hope.

Wonderful, insightful remarks. The decline of the Evangelical Church has actually been going on for decades, long before the current issues that are talked about here. We can see this decline in many aspects: 1) the embracing of feminism with such things as the ordination of women; 2) gender-neutral language and even gender-neutral bibles, and the abolition of the generic masculine in the English language; 3) a liberal approach to divorce and premarital sex 4) the embracing of biblical criticism (Higher and Lower); 5) the embracing of evolution 6) a watering down or denigrating of the doctrine of Hell, hardly ever talked about any more; 7) the abandonment of the King James Bible for such modern versions as the New International Version (now out of print and replaced by a gender-neutral version with the same name); 8) giving lip service to the pro-life cause but in reality ignoring the issue as really unimportant; 9) making "Biblical inerrancy" the subject of so many qualifications as to make it in reality meaningless. Other signs of this decline can be seen in how modern culture shapes the Evangelical Church, such as in church worship, where modern ideas of music and poetry have completely eradicated traditional worship is many churches; 10) Hymn singing, an aspect of traditional worship for centuries, has largely disappeared, along with choirs. When allowed to remain, hymns have been rewritten to make them "gender-neutral" because traditional words are deemed "offensive to women", an idea the comes from feminism, not Scripture. The NAE and Christianity Today are LIBERAL, and have been for some time. Formerly solid evangelical publishers have been going down the same route: Zondervan, Baker Book House, Thomas Nelson, etc., publishing "progressive" Christian views that would have been rejected out of hand even a generation ago (.e.g Rachel Held Evans's book Inspired, published by Thomas Nelson).

I want to see a lot more of this, both for myself and my 26 year-old daughter. We are both believers, conservatives, and lawyers that are seeing and growing in our understanding regarding the insidious false teachers among us.
