The Imperial Attack Base came out in 1980 and the Turret & Probot playset came out in 1981. K-Mart may have been the first store to get that piece.

Welcome back! Much love from Cincinnati, home of Kenner! Grew up with all these toys, even got lots of free ones from visiting the Kenner office. And rescued not one but TWO rocket firing Boba Fett from an old employee. Promptly sold them to pay for textbooks unfortunately.

FINALLY my Sundays are whole again! Welcome back, Joey. Can't wait to join you on your latest journey. My latest rabbit hole? AFA 80 or above graded First 12 figures. Those are the figures that helped me to fall in love with Star Wars so I thought it was only right to dive into that rabbit hole. It was great spending part of my Sunday with an old friend again.😀

Welcome to the rabbit hole! You started with an in depth insight to figures and it was a journey many enjoyed watching, with facts, history, tips, and lessons learned. I know I am not alone in wanting to share in your next steps. Death Star playset is arguably the best Kenner ever made due to playability and scale. Great start!

I collected the playsets exactly the same way, in box as complete as possible, but not mint and unopened. Just loved and played with, but with all instructions and inserts. When needed I would buy a part or piece to replace or upgrade. Also I would buy just an nice empty box then start piecing the set together. The toughest parts to find are the cardboard packing inserts, still looking for a few. Your are 100% correct about, it is hard to get a totally complete playset in box and can take a long time without buying a mint in box one. Still trying to complete my collection all these years later. I did however finally realize 20+ year dream and get all four palitoy sets in box, including the death star! Its not complete or mint shape but slowly I'm trying to make it so. Good luck on your journey, and can't wait for next chapter.

And he's back!!! looking forward to watching the next step in your journey. Its been an incredible and very informative one so far, especially for new collectors like myself. Kenner is such an awesome company I've gotten into quite a few other toy lines since i started and the majority of them are made by Kenner.
