I got the ISC2 Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) cert in 2006.

Here is my take on the information system security field and the CISSP.

CISSP Requirements:
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years cumulative paid full-time work experience in two or more of the 8 domains of the (ISC)² CISSP CBK®. Candidates may receive a one year experience waiver with a 4-year college degree, or regional equivalent or additional credential from the (ISC)² approved list, thus requiring four years of direct full-time professional security work experience in 2 or more of the 8 domains of the CISSP CBK.

Don't have the experience? Become an Associate of (ISC)² by successfully passing the CISSP exam. You'll have 6 years to earn your experience to become a CISSP.

Once you have received your (ISC)² email informing you that you have passed the exam, you will need to download and submit the Candidate Endorsement Form.

The form must be completed and signed by an (ISC)² certified professional. The (ISC)² certified professional is anyone who:

Is able to attest to your professional experience
Is an active (ISC)² credential holder in good standing

My boss wants me to do this as a netadmin but frankly, I'd rather watch paint dry than study for the CISSP.

Ha! I created that graphic showing the old vs the new CISSP CBK domains! Thanks for incorporating it in your video!

If someone listens to you for the first couple minutes, they will think very low of those who earn the CISSP certification including you. You are too negative about your own profession. Why do all of that complaining? As a certified professional, your job is to mentor Up... don’t mentor DOWN. Your posture can really throw people off. However, if you’re trying to eliminate the competition, then you’re doing great!

I've been in the USMC (Infantry) for over 5 years now and I have 4 years left. I have a slower role now in the USMC and was hoping to take this chance to get into the field. Should I get certs first and get my foot in the door? Should I use my TA and GI Bill to get the degree first?

Great video. Does the test require you to memorize stuff or are the questions scenario based?

How are you doing Mr. Brown? I am a post baccalaureate computer science student currently studying for my CISSP. I have my Sec+ and Net+ that I got through the military and am hoping to get the CISSP by next summer while I pursue the CCNA security certification in the fall. Do you have any advice for someone like me who is trying to get to your level of expertise?

Thank you for your honest video. I plan on taking the exam in 2017. It is my understanding the passing score is 70%. Does that mean 70% in total or does one have to pass each of the 8 elements at 70% or more? Obviously, one plans to score higher but I just wanted to know.

Hi, what are your thoughts about getting the CISSP if you are working in vulnerability?

Love your videos, and thank you for your humility.  Lol,  I know few people who have this CISSP certification, and they feel like they are a Greek god or something.Ok, here is my question:  Right now I am pursuing an MS in Information Technology with minor in Data Privacy and Security, and would like to add to that a certification, but I am confused and need your help please. I really don't want to take the Security+ certification, but instead would like to start with the SSCP certification.  What do you think about that?  Also, what do you think of the CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) certification?  Thank YOU!

Man, Im in Security Forces right now for 15 years. Does all the Information security CBT's that we have to maintain every year possibly set me up to becoming an IT Security professional in some way? Im trying to get my foot in the door.
