Fall Fashion Secrets You NEED To Know | How to Style
Today I'm sharing a few of my favourite Fall styling secrets to help you look and feel your very best. It's amazing how even just a few small changes can make getting dressed and putting together outfits so much easier. I'd love to hear in the comments below if any of these tips resonate with you or if you have any of your own to share. I love chatting in the comments. By the way we are still in lockdown here in Auckland - it's been almost 10 weeks now so I will probably be posting more videos than usual because I love making videos and doing so keeps me sane.
So thanks SO much for watching and taking the time to comment - it really means the world to me.

Finally a fall fashion video that isn’t all about buying a bunch of new things but instead talks about using what you have in your closet. I will be subscribing.

Great tips, here is mine. Take a selfie in the outfits you love, refer for inspo when you don't know what to wear. So basically make your own fashion catalog. Refer to your wardrobe selfies when you are frustrated or uninspired.

I use Pinterest to get ideas how to wear an item and try new clothing combinations. Play in your wardrobe. Last year during lockdown I researched essential wardrobe basics to see what was missing. Discovered why there was some clothing orphans. Bought basics to marry clothing items into new outfits. Sometimes white t shirts are overlooked and missing in wardrobe. I also bought navy, black and grey t shirts to create new combinations. Great for layering too.

I agree, I love shopping at the mens section. I find they have better quality sometimes and better prices.

Very good tips. My closet is small so when I try on potential outfits I use my phone to snap pics. I mix textures, colors and styles.

Absolutely, plan your outfits. Even try them on. Sometimes, I have to edit an outfit several times before I get it just right. I have a place for hanging the potential outfit. Sometimes it has to hang there for quite a while while I ponder it and run through what I have in my closet that might go better with it, or what I may need to purchase to elevate it. It just depends how important the event is. Outerwear? Every fall, I travel to a larger shopping mecca to get elevated outerwear, because I live in a smaller city where the shopping is somewhat limited.

I love a good hat! Very rainy in Vancouver, and easier to wear a hat and a good jacket then to navigate the downtown sidewalk with an umbrella. I am clumsy, and do not want to inadvertently injure others...great ideas in this vid.

Kia ora Leonie, bravo on your fabulous tips. I love your advice. Last weekend I bought a clothes rail from Briscoes and set it up in my spare bedroom. Trinny Woodhall suggests putting aside some time on Sundays to put together outfits for the week. I had a play, tried on different clothing combo, pulled out assessories and shoes. I looked at the weather forecast and included different layering pieces depending on the day's temperature. It was fantastic to save time and stress in the mornings. I highly recommend you try this. I am also mindful of clothing items that I don't always reach for. I am conscious of making my clothes go with at least 5 other items, suit my body shape and colouring, and are not orphan pieces. I aim for clothing to give me joy. NZ winters can be cold therefore I have a range of coats, gloves and jackets. I love scarves and berets. This winter I added more colour by buying different sweaters/jumpers for layering. Merino Wool and cashmere. Love cost per wear on investment pieces. Bought a camel Calvin Kiein trench coat heavily discounted in Hawaii. A trench coat had been on my wishlist for many years. Stylist dressing.

I agree with updating your underwear especially what is on your feet. One of my few planned purchases for this winter are merino wool or merino/cashmere blend socks so I can wear my boots which are not fur lined this winter. Also knee high and panty hose with prints, this is a trend this season but it has been a fashion item in France for years: I always thought that a flash of ankles in a sheer sock with prints was so stylish even with a very simple outfit!
Note: for those who don't like wool directly on their skin: try merino wool which is fine and warm (cashmere if you can afford it) they are so soft and luxurious on the skin.

Bravo! This exactly what I had been commenting on that I wanted to keep vibrant and bold colors in my styling during grey days of Fall/Winter to lift my mood and I was going to achieve this by not putting all my off season clothes in storage, leaving out some of my Spring/Summer items to wear thru layering (this is going to be a challenge). But now I see if I plan my outfits that this will be doable. I would love to find a big furry bucket hat, that would cover back of neck, my ears, and my face. lol You did such a job on putting this video together. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
1. Think Transeasonal
2. Experiment with color
3. Plan your outfits
4. Hats are functional and stylish
5. Shop Menswear
6. Great Outerwear good investment
7. Update underwear and socks
8. Lightweight scarves are handy
9. Play with textures and proportions
10. Opt for natural Fibers
11. Set yourself a style challenge (style and wear lost items in your closet)

Nice tips, some of your followers might enjoy Alyssa Belltempo’s videos that show how to use what you have in your wardrobe. I’d love to see you do a similar styling challenge! I love those videos, I always learn so much by seeing an outfit actually created.

I really like this video! Thank you, dear Leonie!
Had to laugh 😄 when you reminded us to check warm underwear. When you are an adult for already some decades, it's been long ago, somebody has told you that 😊!

I really enjoy watching your channel!! The interaction with your mum is adorable. Your videos always seem so natural, I feel like I'm visiting with you each time. Love your style!!! The outfit your mum put together was my favorite. Probably not something I could wear, but loved it for you!! I also try forcing myself to like dark chocolate, because it's supposed to be better for not been very successful though....lol.
