This is a easy fix. Loosen the bottom screws. They are over tight so the machenism is jamed up. There are 4 screws on the bottom Silver side. These have to be loosened n lightly tightened. This should solve the problem for good.

The cleaning tape is a cassette with a tape of Paper. It absorbs the dirt of the camera head. I sucseed to fix my camera holding a clean piece of paper aginst the head, rolling it at the same time but one must be VERY GENTLE!!! The head sensors are so fine and delicate that I did damaged one video recorder head last time, trying to clean it with a cotton stick. Use only clean paper and very delicate touch. In case you're not sure now to do it, don't do it or use a cleaning tape :-)

I found a work around for the message that says "Tape is locked - check
tab" on my HDR-FX1000. I power on camera and open tape side door.
Leaving the door open I then Power Off the camera and unhook the battery
or disconnect the power supply. Then i load a tape and then i shut the
door and hook power back up and let the camera reload the tape. When i
do it this way I do not get the message. Hope this helps someone.

so i had the same problem for about 5 months it wouldnt fix so one day i decided i l put in a tape plug it directly into the tv and try to record and it fixed the problem the unplugged it from the tv and camerea worked normally again

I had the same problem but had fixed it in a crazy way...u gotta blow in some air to dry up the i works but not permanent solution

This does this too except when i go to eject, the tray comes out but doesn’t open. I have to remove the battery and reinsert it so the tray will go back in so i can close the door. Oddly enough it doesnt do this with every tape and if i eject BEFORE it starts telling me to eject the tape, it works.

My cassette holder pops out when I eject the cover, however the holder does not open so I can remove the tape ( can anyone advise me how to sort this out?
