Nihilism: The Belief in Nothing

For some, the meaning of life is the love we share with friends, family, and our loved ones. Some others believe the existence of life in itself is what makes it worth living. But for nihilists, life is meaningless. All action, suffering, emotions both good and bad, are entirely senseless and meaningless.

This is Nihilism, the belief in nothing.

The biggest bummer to me is knowing that I'll never truly see how far humanity will go.

I find the nihilism strangely comforting. I grew up in a catholic home and went to catholic school. The pressure of heaven and hell not existing and being able to just live in the moment is the most free I've ever felt tbh

Nihilism has been my comfort for many years now. A feeling of escape in realism. The fact that nothing has any inherent meaning and nothing lasts forever I find reassuring

I really like how you touched on how good/evil is all relative and essentially irrelevant. I’ve been nihilistic for a while now. It started as negative but over the years has become positive. It used to make me so suicidal thinking about how I am just going to die in the end and nothing I do really matters. Sometimes I still think like that but I’ve gotten better at seeing nihilism in a positive way. Whenever I’m extremely stressed out I remind myself that in the end I will be dead and so in the grand scheme of things whatever I’m stressed out about doesn’t matter. That can be comforting sometimes

I already had this thought as a kid that "life is just life". Why do we need to make a meaning out of life instead of just enjoying it until one day we depart? I still think about it this way and even though for some the fact that there is no meaning in life is scary, for me its soul freeing. Basically I take life as it is and don't think on something that I will never figure out in my lifetime, it's nice.

Just watched a video on stoicism, and it made me feel terrible. But every time I hear about nihilism, it makes me feel so relieved and relaxed. It means there is nothing to worry about because nothing matters. So I can smile. 😊

im a nihilist, but it gives me great comfort, there is no meaning to life, why would there be? why does it matter? Ive never understood why people care about it having a meaning?? nothing means anything, you find your own joy in life. As a long term Nilist, I would agree that my first thoughts were to burn it all down, but now I have come to the realization that if it doesn't directly affect my current life I shouldn't care because nothing matters. I then chose based on my happiness in life what direction and what battles I want to meet. It has actually given me more freedom in my life. As to why I don't burn it all down, its simple there are penalties in life. I gauge my actions with the possible outcomes and if I may get pain or have freedoms taken away I restrict my actions. One of the best things about Nilism is that I don't fear death. This alone removes a lot of stress from my life. I realize that life will always present challenges to me and that eventually I will tire of the challenges or not be strong enough to overcome them and then my life will end. Lastly there is a good probability that the answer to Why is Change.

To me, it's like this really long trip. What I love most about my journey here so far is this beautiful planet. We are so lucky to have this portal of life. I really love breezes and frogs croaking. I'm just here enjoying all of that.
