I’m tall for a ballerina. After I got stuck with the tiny young boys for pas de deux class (like 12 yrs old) I completely blocked my partner dancing in a combo when he was behind me. My teacher looks at me, confused, and she goes “Where’s your partner?” 🤣

The male student needs to move his right foot slightly forward and put the right hip forward to avoid a knee strike to the groin. Then demi-pointe the left foot and that will raise the height of the hand even more to reach the girl's hand.

The male dancer needs to remember he is the support fulcrum for the ballerinas spin. He needs to find a way to make her spin more easily and not just hold her hand, hurting her back.

The way these turns are performed in Latin American dancing the arm of the female dancer is further away from the head with the elbow at approximately a right angle. That way you have an easier time getting a clear circle(not throwing over the girl) and shorter guys have an easier time leading.
