Pet sounds is a classic but the thing that rubs me the wrong way is I feel like every time I see discourse about it somebody has to bring up how "it's better then Sargent Peppers, it's better then the Beatles, the Beatles could never" and every time I see this it ethier comes across as super insecure or that the person likes the album as like a hipster alternative to the Beatles. And it's always werid to me because I've never see Beatles discourse mention the Beach Boys. It feels like a very one sided rivalry. At least that's what I've noticed

Pet sounds is properly rated. White album and maybe abbey road beat it out but it doesn’t have a bad track.

Im one of those people that thinks Pet Sounds is the best pop album of all time. Properly rated

Thriller is my favorite album of all time. 9 songs in total with the likes of Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, PYT, Human Nature (my personal favorite song ever made), and Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ taking up 6 of those spots. The fact that all of those songs are on the same album should be illegal. With that being said I actually return to the remaining three songs just as often, if not more than the hits. Baby Be Mine is one of his most underrated tracks and I still don’t understand why people think it’s the dud of the album, it’s a bop. Lady in My Life is the second best song on that album for me and MJ’s best ever closing track. I can see why The Girl is Mine might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I love that song despite the fact that I think it’s the weakest on the record. Love MJ’s music, anyone who has off the wall, dangerous, bad, etc. as their personal favorite will hear no complaints from me. But for me, Thriller is on another level.

I love Thriller but I agree with Fanthony here, Off the Wall has a much better album experience and Bad has a similar amount of huge hits (like Smooth Criminal), while also having the rest of the songs slightly better on average than the non-hits off of Thriller. Still, all three are great.

Really curious to hear what Beach Boys albums Fantano thinks is better than Pet Sounds (despite having Pet Sounds still in high regards.) I'm going to guess it's Sunflower.

I'd be really interested in seeing a tier list for them, since their discography is massive, spans a lot of time, and they go through a whole bunch of different phases. Probably one of the few bands you could have MULTIPLE S-Tier and F-Tier albums.

Tbh Off the Wall is a better album than Thriller however Thriller is really defined by its era/videos/performances more so than the music as opposed to Off the Wall.

Thriller I think you can make a case it’s not Jackson’s best album. That’s fair. That being said it’s still pretty GOATED and I think it lives up to the hype. For me every track is a banger

Off The Wall is for sure a 10. I think Off The Wall and Bad is far superior to Thriller. Thriller had fantastic hits, but OTW was a better listening experience. Plus it showed that MJ was very versatile and skilled. The man survived the disco phase.

I would say that Miseducation is overrated in the sense of how much people like to throw it around as a "Hip Hop" album. Lauryn Hill was an amazing rapper and Miseducation does have heavy elements of rap in it but the main genre to me always seemed to be RnB and Soul. I think it deserves to be on a greatest albums list for sure though.

But it ain't a predominantly Hip Hop record and I feel people overhype it by putting it on lists of "greatest Hip Hop albums of all time"
