Instacart shop + deliver is probably the most profitable when done in your home grocery store (the store that you know every aisle + location of items). When shopping in unfamiliar stores, I can imagine wasting a lot time on every unconventional item.

I use a Copy & Paste greeting to the customer when I get to the store so immediately have communications with them. If they dont respond to that then i know they wont respond to any other substitutions so it will be alot faster.

For the replacements it really depends on the type of item but I keep in mind that the batch pay is based on the amount of items so I always try to leave with a replacement. I only make sensible replacements. I dont try to contact them unless I know they're active on chat, if the tip is already good, or if it seems like a critical item

That bread is on an end cap at aisle 14 or 12 at that Fred. Make sure you scan both barcodes at checkout, one of them is linked to the customers rewards card.

I’d make sure to send an intro text. Usually that give you a good idea on if the customer will be responsive. Substitute with best available or refund and move on. the higher cart status you get, the better the orders will get. Unfortunately, just starting you have to take what you can and level up for next quarter. Make sure you check batch availability on your settings to make sure you qualify for all offers like alcohol, etc.

I promise it gets easier after you get comfortable and get to know your stores.

I have had a handful of weeks where most of my work was Instacart- I think you kind of gain momentum with Instacart the more orders you do. What I’m usually looking for is either 1-6 items for around $10 and less than 4 miles, or I’ll do up to like 25 items for around $30. I have done very few large orders, and they have to be worth it. Like I had an order for about 40 items paying $49 and only going about a mile recently. Hard work, but I did it in about an hour, so worth it. My favorite is mid sized orders like 15 items or so for $25. That usually ends up being great hourly pay.

Been doing IC going on 3 years.
1- know your products - that comes with experience. I watched a YT’er spend way too much time trying to find a yogurt based dressing on the shelf and not in the produce cooler where it’s usually kept.
2- if I can’t find it look to see if there’s a replacement. If no replacement do your best to find one. For the yogurt try to find another one that’s lactose free. If there isn’t one. Refund and go.
It all comes with experience.
My area has lots of curbside aka shop only. It’s my market and I’m not going to bitch about it because I prefer the shop only.
I have 3 stores I shop at- I go fast and know the layouts. Bam.
Plus I don’t rely on this money to support a family so it doesn’t stress me out.

I rarely take restaurant orders for nine dollars! I wouldn't dare shop for that amount, all shop and pay orders should be minimum fifteen dollars!

This was interesting to watch. I order on Instacart about once per month and I always do priority and tip $10. I’ve always had a pretty good experience with the shoppers for the most part. I’ve increased my tip two or three times with an additional $5 if the shopper went out of their way to help with a replacement. I’ve only decreased my tip once and that was because of the shopper getting wrong/expired items that I had to return. My order always gets picked up within seconds by a shopper and I’ve noticed my shoppers are usually diamond or platinum shoppers. The one that I had to decrease my tip was not a diamond/platinum shopper. I’ve have never had that guy again though thank goodness! Great video!

I'm recovering from a sickness after 2 yrs and just getting healthy enough to do some walking then realized I could get paid for walking around stores. Don't waste time on the customers if they don't respond quickly. And, you have to scan all the codes on the app first. Then scan the items. And also, if you don't accept an order right away, wait a few minutes because the batch pay will go up.

Don't listen to people telling you to take shortcuts. If you are waiting for a response, you can still continue your shopping and go back for the substitutions last. Sometimes if they order online instead of the app, they can't ask for substitutions anyway so all you can do is refund the item or give them a suggested substitution. Also if they want to add items, that just means your total for the order goes up. Good luck!

If the customer don't respond I try reaching out twice then I just cancelled that order so they get the refund back
