I think everyone misunderstood the point of the song. The point is that your happiness is with the people close to you. Many are preoccupied with what they want to achieve and forget what they have.❤

The point is, at the beginning Moana has an adventurous spirit and doesn't just want to stay 'where you are' as her parents encourage her to. She wants to discover and travel and so that's what she does, but at the end she comes back home having quenched that adventurous thirst and that's why 'every path leads you back to where you are' and she's now ready to be the chief. It's a coming of age story to put it bluntly. Go out, have your adventures, but ultimately it's the people who we love at home that are the most important, and home is where we will find our true happiness.

i understand the literal entire point of the movie was to go against this song, but as someone who grew up in a small town that i wanted to escape, i think that as important as it is to do what your heart tells you and to explore the world, it is also important to remember your roots and have respect for the places we come from.

This is very relevant to me being in the LGBTQ+ community and my church and other family members trying to get me on the Christian side and my one amazing aunt who accepts me so much 😢😊😊
