Would like to say that the strength of your channel is the heavy doses of factual information, whether about the animal itself or its husbandry. You have one of the most valuable channels on YouTube for the developing invert keepers. Keep up the fantastic work.

My partner was terrified of spiders before he saw my sling molt. Now when he visits, he asks to see the “little chonky spider.” My rotund curlyhair is truly a delight :)

Great work, Richard; most people will never see how breathtakingly misunderstood these incredible animals are--but your work certainly goes a long way to rectifying that issue. Keep these things coming!

Love the video, Richard! A couple of points:

- To anyone confused about the point on tarantulas being venomous rather than poisonous, the distinction is that venom must be injected, while poison must be ingested, or absorbed through the skin or eyes

- That’s absolutely fascinating that the pedipalps of arachnids are thought to have once been antenna, I never knew that!

- It’s a small point, but technically tarantulas have two _pairs_ of book lungs, while most spiders have one _pair_ of book lungs, since most spiders (i.e., most if not all spiders within the Araneomorphae infraorder) additionally have structures called trachea, which are tubes that run directly to their tissues; I personally suspect, but do not know for sure, that trachea are more efficient for smaller body plans, while book lungs become more efficient for larger body plans

- Regarding the point that “no breathing takes place, ” that depends on your definition of “breathing;” what is currently accepted is that no expanding or contracting of the book lungs takes place to aid in air circulation, and as was said, only diffusion occurs, so if you define “breathing” as sucking in air it doesn’t take place, but if you define “breathing” as the exchange of oxygen for carbon dioxide, it does

Could you do a video of a tarantula eating while filming underneath it (maybe through glass)so we can see what's going on when they eat?

Thank you for taking the time to educate your listeners. My little boy & I are about to pick up our baby Queensland Whistling Tarantulas as our wild girl just died 😪. She was a garden orb weaver and we all loved her so much. My entomologist suggested Tarantulas for us as they live for over a decade usually so we are super excited.. . .& looking forward to your next tips.
Thanks again, guy. Well done.

Great video. You should consider doing a piece on Australian Tarantulas. There’s only a few species here that are formally recognised with a species name - most are referred to by the location which they are found. A lot of the ground work with Ts here is being done by collectors and hobbyists. There’s a lot of mystery around them, so I think it would be a good idea for a video.

Hi Richard! It is cool that you have such a plastic model to visualize the anatomy of tarantulas. Fascinating how different Nature's creatures are.

I’ve been around your channel for awhile and I’m glad to see how much it’s grown and you as a content creator! I hope your content gets around for the tarantula fearers so they don’t fear them one day 🥰
Tarantula (and all bugs/creepy crawlie critters) are friends 😌

Although it was tarantula Kat that got me into arachnids you’re videos provided me with all the information and research needed for my first bunch of T’s and I’m in love with them. Only took me a couple videos to realize they’re not that scary I just knew nothing about them
