Hike To St George Church, Olympos, Karpathos

I enjoyed a brisk hike from Olympos village to St. George's Church, which is situated on a ridge between Olympos and Avlona. The church is visible as a tiny speck from Olympos itself. It is a rugged hike along curvy roads and slippery paths and one has beehives and goats for company. The winds are brisk, the clouds are always changing, the scents of sage and dust waft over the land, and the light fades in and out very frequently. The views are splendid and I truly enjoyed my "Greek island adventure hike" to the east of Olympos. Not for those who are out-of-shape, but for those who are fit, the rewards are ample.
