The Ford 427 SOHC: Through The Eyes of Legendary Engine Builder Ed Pink (His LAST Engine Build)

preview_player
Показать описание
Ed Pink has been a prominent engine builder since 1960 having conquered NHRA INDYCAR USAC and IMSA with his legendary engines. One engine Ed is known for is the iconic Ford 427 SOHC (Single Overhead Cam) or CAMMER V8 used in NHRA competition during the glory days of Garlits, Prudhomme, and others. At age 92 Ed has just finished his FINAL engine build and it is a Ford SOHC 427. We sit down with him to hear his firsthand account of being approached by Ford in 1966 to build these engines for public sale and develop a competitive drag racing program for Lou Baney and Don Prudhomme. Ed Pink is truly a living legend and one of the last living members of the pioneer generation for motorsports in the world.

This video was 100% Ed's idea. He wanted to share his story and have his last engine rebuild ever be documented... Help Ed and leave a thumbs up on this video! (it helps more people see it) and send it to one of your friends too! Ed Pink is one of the final pioneer members of motorsports still alive and his life wisdom shared in little nuggets throughout this video are absolutely priceless. Isn't his memory of technical details completely shocking?

This probably will be the last testament of this man's knowledge. Thank you for interviewing him/hanging out.

I couldn't tell you how many engines in the 70's were Ed Pink, but I can tell you they won a lot of races and sounded better than everyone else. God bless this Man. He's a Treasure who will never be forgotten.

Ed Pink- What an incredible human being, I wish there was a "love button" instead of a "like button" on this video, at 92 years young he is the sharpest tool in the toolbox and his legacy will live on for eternity, he is a gift to motorsports and humanity and I'm thankful that he gave you the opportunity to spend some time with you and record it for all of us.Thank you!

Anyone notice that when the conversation kinda turned to mortality and people sitting in front of TV's, Pink changed the direction FAST. The man doesn't dwell on that kinda stuff...he's got work to do!

The legend himself. I hope that when I am 92 my mind is still that sharp. The amount of knowledge that he has gained over his lifetime is so immense that it would take many many episodes even to begin to scratch the surface. He still has the passion today as when he started and you can hear it in his voice. Do as many videos as it takes to preserve this automotive history and teach the world of just how much genius these individuals from this era possess. Keep doing this.

These videos are CRITICAL.
This firsthand knowledge and undocumented history from the masters has got to be recorded before these heroes are gone.
Thank you so much for this work and for letting Ed speak uninterrupted.

This is a rather sentimental video for those of use who really appreciate the early years of racing, with Ed Pink being one of the main pioneers. Thanks Ed, and thanks guys, for making this special video for all of us. That engine is gorgeous. I could never get tired of just looking at it!!!

Ed's memory is amazing at 92. He's likely forgotten more than most of us know about engine building. Such a rad video and I'm glad he's reached out to you to do this. It needed to be documented like this, so thank you.

Thank you for Filming this!! As an engine guy getting to see how Ed Pinks mind works and just listening to how things use to be done is absolutely invaluable, you are the Only one going around talking to all of these greats before they are gone forever, thank you!! I really appreciate it!
