Female pilot becomes youngest captain of Colombian Airline

It has been more than 100 years since Therese Peltier from France became the first woman to pilot an aircraft.

Since then, many women have entered the aviation industry, but overall, their numbers remain small compared to men. Women represent only about six percent of the total world pilot population.

In Colombia, one woman is not only breaking those gender barriers, but has also become the youngest captain at Colombia’s Avianca Airline.

She's inspired me... To go to want to seriously get into aviation school! But mostly to fly smaller planes like a Cessna. An Airline is like a HUGE responsibility. Wow! A beautiful yet very successful woman!? I mean.. she flies an Airline PLANE! She has my huge respect! Its amazing of what she has accomplished, Ive always dreamed of being a Pilot actually.... And watching all these videos are super inspiring. She could easily pass as a runaway model but instead wanted to do something else. Something that also isn't the "norm" for most women.
