Definitely a very useful video. Not many videos showing what actually happens when the phasers fail

This is such useful content. Haynes manual was my go-to for this job, but as far as diagnostics and demonstration goes, a detailed look like what is presented here is like finding a diamond in a shit mine.

Excellent video, content rich. I have a 2011 acadia, with the same engine and its good to see someone got 400k miles from it. There are a ton of complaints about this engine.

Will you please link the tools needed to do this job? My car is a 2014 Mustang V6 3.7. Thank you so much.

Ok my question is mine moves with pulley and cam shaft is also on driver side close to strut tower.i did timing due to the plastic coming off a guide.starts up runs great drives just that driver side chain will not stay tight

Awesome video! I just put some cheap eBay phasers on a 14 Impala and I don’t like the way they sound🤔

Something tells me that was harder to change out than it seems

Hello, good day, can you tell me the name of the tool and where did you buy it? Thank you

My garage told me this engine has 2 reluctor Wheels and they think one wheel has slipped causing a timing issue on the left Bank and said they have to remove my engine to investigate 🙄

if a phasers bolt ces loose and phaser backs out a little would it loose oil pressure and act the same? if that makes sense. I was getting ready to do the timing chains and I found a bolt loose with about an 1/8th inch gap between the phaser and the cam bearing behind it.

Could we weld the cam phaser? .. electric welding
So we make it one piece .. at close position !

I'm having vibrations at starting and after 15 minutes it becomes silent
Thanks for sharing

Have a 2006 Cadillac I suspect has this problem had a loud knocking at idle but went away once you gave it gas . Chain and tensioners look . Both sides get slack in the middle when you spin it around . But only knocks coming from passenger side area. Have it taken apart for the timing chain and don’t think it’s the chain thinking it’s the same phaser as yours .

So phasers can also fail but staying locked while running. So its not a sufficient way to identify a bad phaser

I have a weird issue did fresh timing on a aura 3.6. Everything lined up and fit well. When I installed the cover I wanted to rotate the engine over by hand just to make sure cams line back up again. And the intake phaser on the Left side(near Radiator) chain jumped two teeth it lost tension for jumped then got tight again. Is there anyway I can prevent that from happened once it’s back together and I crank it over?

will a bad phaser make any type of noise while the vehicle is running such as knocking, ticking,

I have a question, I working on a 2008 Acadia 3.6l. I ordered the parts for the timing, and comes out that the engine was replaced and the phasers and chain on the engine are different from what it's supposed to be(engine was swapped). Turned out the engine is from a Cadillac. Phaser is different and the chain is aswell. The the question is, can I install the complete kit that should be for the Acadia and will it affect the timing? The timing covers are the same, and camshaft sensor aswell.

This is really helpful! I have a 2011 v6 3.0 in my GMC Terrain, getting a cranking no start right now, have fuel, spark, and air but no compression on all cylinders, I just did this test and found 1 cam phaser is moving counter clockwise, however the whole thing moves and slacks the chain.. on the rest I do have some slight play to varying degrees where the front plates you have moving, move about 1 mm (of arc along their outer edge) and spring back for 2, but not the other. Should I replace all 4?
