Take Hobbico's Reef Racer 2, add a Tacon 2848 3900kv, HobbyWing's 25a SeaKing ESC and a GensAce 2s1550 25c Lipo and you have a big grin machine. Stock prop, prop shaft and cooling coil.

When you drive them in the waves all i can do is smile and laugh. I never really wanted a rc boat. but this may have changed my mind. and with how cheap you can up BL motors and small lipo's It's totally worth it.

Oh yes. I think you are right about that aquacraft couple. Thanks. Great video. Love these boats.

Yes. I used the stock rudder. Seems to work OK. I made my own couplers as I have access to a metal lathe. Stock motor has 2mm shaft and the one I used is 3.175mm (1/8") One user reported that an AquaCraft part number AQUB7854 works for adapting 1/8" shaft motors to the Reef Racer.

The brushless motor I installed needed a brushless speed controller to go with it. The stock motor/ESC are brushed type with the reciever built in. I had a transmitter and reciever laying around from one of the many RTR kits I bought over the years so I used that. Hope this helps.

It sure looks like fun! I've got the 1st version of the RR and it was a blast for a little toy boat, this one has a LOT more speed! Consider that I'm used to driving 50-80 MPH RC boats but sometimes you just have to have one to mess around with. I'm afraid that if I see one in a LHS that it'll follow me home.

I haven't broken any rudders but lots of props. The props break easily in cold water (below 60f) but stand up better in warm water.

Got the motor and ESC from HobbyPartz. The ESC is a HobbyWing SeaKing 25a and the motor is a Tacon 2848 3900kv. A 28mm motor fits the stock cooling coil and motor mount perfectly. When I bought the motor and ESC they where $19.00 (ESC) and $20.00 (motor) each. Hope this helps.

The stock motor shaft size is 2mm. The bigger car motors are like the one I used are 1/8" or 3.175mm. so the stock coupler won't work. I have a metal lathe so I was able to make some couplers that were 3mm (propeller shaft) to 1/8" motor shaft. The Aquacraft drive coupler AQUB7854 is said to be the correct size although I haven't tested that myself.

Not a problem. If you need a good inexpensive radio check out the FlySky GT3B or C at HobbyPartz. I have one and you can't beat it for the price.
