Incident response and ethical hacking might get all the press, but there’s a whole world of other career options in cybersecurity. One that is often overlooked by those new to the field is governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). Sound like boring policy stuff? Stifle that yawn, because GRC will have you touching many areas of the business, combining cyber skills with strategy and management, and having a direct line to your organization’s CISO. Talya will wake you up to the opportunities in GRC.

I'm looking at doing the SANS bachelor's program, and they offer three free electives. Does SANS offer any courses that would cover what an entry level GRC analyst would need to know?

- A very structured presentation, though the slides are not legible even on max resolution.
- The level of generality is quite high. The last 2 minutes were particularly informative, though the certification comments are incorrect. Most employers are hungry for certified experts because they aren't sure what other qualifications to look for in this privacy-rich domain. Legal and regulatory knowledge is a must. The focus on hiring people with 'general' and 'transferable' skills explains the abundance of fines being administered in big tech.
