Mighty mitochondria

Aerobic respiration:
It relies on oxygen
Releasing energy for things to happen
Like Active transport and muscle contractions

Let’s do the equation:
Glucose plus oxygen
And over on the right hand side:
Water plus carbon dioxide

To release energy
The cells must make ATP
The organelle they rely on
Is the mitochondrion x2

This process ain’t the same
If O2’s not in the game.
Anaerobic is what we call it
For this mitochondria are not needed

ATP production is less Rapid
And in muscles it makes Lactic acid
Plants and yeast can do this too
But they make Ethanol and CO2.
