I have a 2010 with a 5 speed manual. Bought it new and now at 290, 000 miles. No engine or tranny repairs. Still on the original clutch! One solid powertrain and it is still fun to drive.

This is my childhood vehicle. On February 16th, my family no longer have it anymore, replacing it with a 2020 Honda Civic. Plus, that’s a 2009 model, looked the same as the 2008 on the video. We own the minivan for 15 years. I still remember the happy smile on the front of the minivan and The Mazda 5 minivan will always be my childhood memory no matter what. ❤️🫡

I bought one of these new in 2008, but mine had a 5-speed manual and I added a Mazdaspeed 3 rear anti-sway bar and summer tires. Great handling, fun car, really drove like a fun hatch, not a van. The only issue I had was that I believe the OE rear springs were too soft and caused unweighting of the front tires on acceleration. This was really noticeable in wet or snowy uphill conditions. I ran full winter tires on all 4 on 16" steel wheels for winter.

They’re even more fun with a 5 speed. I think you’re right saying they’re the most fun van.

Im the one who purchased this van for my 16yo daughter from toyota of naperville a couple of weeks ago. It is a peppy van with great gas mileage.

I enjoyed your video as well as my daughter when I showed it to her.

This is a very fun van...I own one and it has 200k and still going. It handles very good and the steering has some weight. I drive it using the tipronic and it very fun dipping through highway traffic. The motor is bulletproof. I would definitely buy another one when this one ever dies

Back in Puerto Rico I used to work for a Mazda dealership, they had a Mazda 5 for parts and service 2nd and 3rd row seats removed and a custom wood floor installed. To say the least that thing got abused and never gave any real problems (that I'm aware)

Fun fact. I was a salesmen for a Mazda dealer and usually we were encouraged to drive for 5-10 minutes to demonstrate the handling capabilities as part of our Zoom Zoom campaign. MX-5 and RX-8 were loads of fun. The 3 and 6 were least interesting. The 5 blew me away. There is a curve shaped like a question mark. We use this to demonstrate the handling prowess. In the 5 it will tripod on a really sharp turn.

Great review. I've got a '10 and love it. Keep up the good work. There are only 2 "issues" with these. The ride is brutal with performance tires. Most car mags said the same. The other gripe is replacing the headlamp bulbs. Don't even try it. Get someone else to. They are impossible to get them in and getting them to stay put.

Never knew these came in manual. I saw a black color one on the road the other day and it look really good

I found one in this color with a 5 speed manual and 150k miles. I'm seriously tempted

I had the 2010. A tiny minivan. In terms of capabilities for its weight and size, practically unbeatable. Seats six, seats fold for hardware store trips, parks like a sedan. Great headroom for tall passengers.

I believe this engines, the MZR engines, 2.0, 2.3 and 2.5, were actually mazda designed engines, but at the time Ford owned a big % of Mazda and they also had the rights over these engines, so much so that even now I think the 2.3 basic architecture is still used in the 2.3 Ecoboost.

There is a manual mode on the shifter. The second row seats are adjustable forward and back so the third row has more legroom.

Engine is Mazda Platform L, Duratec are also Mazda based engines.

The older generation looks so much better!

Wish he had folded up the rear seats to see what sort of cargo space it offered

I just bought a used 2012 mazda5 w/ manual transmission. I wanted a vehicle that was cheap on gas and big enough to convert into a mini camper. My plan is to travel around Canada to hike as many national park trails as possible. I think this vehicle was the best choice. I would have liked 4x4 but I really wanted fuel economy to make the trip around Canada as cheap as possible because I'm a poor 😂

Bought a 2007 Mazda 5 3 years ago after my 1993 Escort wagon gave out. Best vehicle I've had of the 9 different cars I've owned 2 from the 1970's, 5 from the 1980's and the 1993 Escort and hopefully this will be the last car I own. These are quite fast though the car review guys all say there slow. They're also roomy inside as I was able to fit a full size couch in mine with about a foot or less sticking out the back. Granted the third row is small but the center seats move to give those in last row room. I've sat back there and fit fond and I'm 5'8". Great vehicle don't be deterred by certain reviews drive it and see for your self, these as said fun to drive.
