This battle in my opinion is a great example about what to do for both pilots and air-defense players, the lessons of this battle are:

For the pilot:
- Stay far and prioritize SPAAs

- I prefer dodging the incoming missiles by diving in an extreme angle of attack, this maneuver should do the job against an 850m\s 16G missile. That's why I still think VT-1 is the most dangerous SAM in WT with 1250m\s speed and 35G overload while TOR has the best radar.

- Vehicles like 2s6 and ADATS are the silent & sudden death, the smoke trail of their missiles has too short lifetime, it will disappear after one or two moments from the launch, so good luck spotting that red one pixel coming to your wings. Also IRST\Optical mode on both, which doesn't trigger RWR.

- I just think that TOR-M1 "Track" mode doesn't trigger RWR, I faced multiple missiles in couple of battles and RWR was passive all the time (Also lock mark of TOR-M1 "Track" mode" is similar to F-14 TWS mode so that's might be another proof, and I don't think all of TOR players that I faced were using IRST, I hope "LeadFollower551" comes to comments section and confirms what mode he was using because it is not showable in server replay, he knows the channel because he greeted me at the start of the battle)


- Countermeasures as you saw, without maneuvering they are useless.


For the SPAA player

- Leave spawn location (I ping it all the time)
- Position the vehicle next to cover
- Relocate your vehicle (That's why my Walleye missed)

Good video for learning, seems like most SPAA players are pretty unexperienced due to CAS players not playing safely. Seems like every time I do well with CAS I get yelled at in chat..

Good to see the A-7E in action. It was a dedicated ground pounder alongside its sibling the A-6 for decades until the A-10 and bird of prey series (F-15, F-16, F-18) showed up. Comparable to the Soviets Su-7, and Su-17 series.

Those were some awesome manuevers, most times pilots die by this thing and you managed to dodge so many of those missiles thanks to these dangerous yet very helpful maneuvers, hope people learn something from this video. High rish = high reward!

Good morning Big Hunter and friends! I've been a BIG critic of CAS in combo battles, still not a huge fan, but getting used to it. His words are absolutely correct, but in the case in question, the "survival" of the player with the SAM happened because he didn't have another CAS, otherwise he would be killed right away. It is a fact that with the introduction of the TOR-M1 and ItO 90M, life for the airmen became much more complicated, and now I understand that they found a good balance between the two forces: land and air.
As for his CAS skills, further praise is unnecessary. hehe

I’ve been trying to figure out for awhile now why most if not all air laser guidance systems don’t display distance? I feel like this would definitely be something accounted for on these pods no?

It’s times like these I just SAM the bomb.
The first few standard carefree close runs are easily dealt with.. but those long distance standoff runs are difficult to secure a kill on. Especially if the plane knows you exist.

Sometimes that’s just the best AA you can be though, it’s not always about killing the plane. good CAS may be unkillable by AA, but good AA can still deny good CAS. Just hope you got more missiles than they have bombs.. and can keep track of them in case someone else shows up.

I’m ready for the US to have some better CAS options, the TV guidance on the A-7E is so frustrating, it’s basically point guidance at any kind of useful standoff range it doesn’t work at all during night battles

If you fly very high, it is difficult for TOR to hit. I often encounter A7 attacks 13 km away from me.

Hey Hunter what key do you have bound that lets you switch camera views directly to the T-pod? I have "Toggle View" bound but that switches to the Harriers nose camera before the T-pod.

How is the A-7E at top tier Griund Attack compared to other options like the A-10, F-5E, F-105-(my personal favorite because of the 3k pounders with supersonic speeds), etc.?
