They also hate being fat though. They’re always saying how difficult it is to be fat and how much they struggle. Why is it surprising that people would want to lose weight?

The problem is that these people made being fat their whole personality, that's why they think everyone that tries to lose weight is toxic or hates them, because they think being fat is all what they are and that's really sad.

Health is the most valuable thing we all have. Nothing is worth compromising health. Choosing health is not trolling. Such toxic behavior.

It's funny how body positivity turns to body jealousy so fast when people try to put in work on themselves.

I was 265 pounds at my heaviest during pregnancy. I ended up having pre-eclampsia at 37 weeks (which can happen to anybody) but that experience alone is what made me want to get healthier. I'm down to 160lbs now and have kept it off for 3 years, I've literally never felt better.

It’s like drunks at the bar getting mad at someone who got sober.

When I was miserably obese, I would've said the same thing. But, if this person is like I was, its important to remember that the hardline stances are coming from a place of absolute dis-empowerment and hopelessness when it comes to losing the weight. Its much easier to say 'No, I like this.' and lie to yourself than it is to commit to the lifestyle changes necessary to guarantee your health into the future.

They’re not naming names because they don’t want to be specific about what the issue is, because then people will clearly refute it or shut it down.

By over generalizing the issues, they can point to this invisible generalized enemy and ignore any reason.

Obesity and an auto immune disorder landed me on the transplant list. I ate what I wanted, thinking it was okay, but little did I know, the crap I was eating was killing me. I was 48 trying to figure out how to say goodbye to my son. In 2020, I was lucky enough to have a donor found with days to spare. No one owes you their healthy. No one needs to remain fat to please anyone, and believe me, the freedom to eat crap food isn't worth dying for.

The rhetoric reminds me of super religious folks. In the fundamentalist church, if you deconstruct or divorce or anything of the sort, you're "not a real Christian." And that line of thinking follows here. "If you lose weight, it's because you didn't really know what it means to be a fat person."

Who made her in charge of deciding what everyone else in the world is allowed to talk about? Pfft

I distinctly remember this creater doing clothing try-ons and was constantly ordering smaller sizes than she was. Doesn't sound like someone comfortable in their body

It's remarkable how fat activists are so livid about a former fat person losing the weight. They lash out in so many ways and ascribe so much negativity to it. If they were truly body positive they would be encouraging people to do whatever they feel is best for them. But they are not truly body positive. They feel helpless with their weight (and that's a relatable feeling) so they just want it to be "just how they are" instead of what they are eating. They don't like to be reminded that their weight is an issue that can be changed.

The term "crab bucket" mentality refers to people trying to pull you back down to their level because they resent you escaping, succeeding, or achieving what they couldn't.

The things that I really love to DO, I was UNABLE to do when I was fat. Horseback riding, hiking, parasailing, ziplining.... at 300+ pounds, these are not activities you can do- whether safely or at all. Now at 130 I can do them without issue. Not to mention just, I dont know, WALKING COMFORTABLY WITHOUT GETTING OUT OF BREATH. craziness.

Ridiculous. Most people don't lose weight because they hate fat people. I doubt any do that. I lost weight because I had ulcers. Please. Most fat people lose weight due to health issues.

Like people can’t change their minds about stuff? Look even if someone decides to lose weight, change all their content and be snarky to their former community, why is it FA’s business? They’re not “in the community” anymore, so who cares. It reeks of cultish policing and honestly, PR damage control. Like they don’t want these people talking about Fat Club or whatever

It’s a cult. I’m over hearing their point of view.

Ya sober people should totally stop saying how much better their life is now that they are sober and try to help current alcoholics. It's "toxic" to the bar community. Also, doctors should also stop bringing up someone's drinking when they see them. They're only there because they have high blood pressure, liver disease,

I found the body positivity movement when I was a teen. I am now 24 mother of 2. I gained over 100 pounds and thought everyone else was the problem and that I ate “like everyone else”. When i realized I couldn’t play with my toddler or fucking tie my shoes.. I left. My relationship with food is almost healed, I eat portions now and consciously think about what I eat and how much. I don’t restrict any foods as good/bad. I just know I can’t eat cookies and shit all the time because duh. Down 30 pounds in 3 months from just cutting sugar and soda for diet etc. high protein, PCOS friendly foods and meals.
