PD35 TAC has never let me down in the, i think, five years of having it. It's pretty beat up but works great. My major complaint with these lights is that tailcap, hate the raised ridges. I'm also leaning towards strike bezels the more kickboxing I do.

Those prices definitely make me happy to be in the US. I knew things cost more for you guys but we save about $100 on each light.

Excellent Comparison. I think I agree with your choice of the 35R. Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, most Fenix clips, can be easily removed and reversed to any position you like. I just lost my LD12 (125 LM version) which I was using for every single day, since a lot of years back when I got it. At work in many cases I had to do the trick with the clip, to clip the flashlight on my Jokey cup, which literally transformed the light to a headlamp!!
I now do a research, to replace my stolen LD12 and I'm between the LD 22 and any of these 3. I guess, that no matter how great these 3 are, I'll probably end up on the LD22 for the versatility of the batteries, because I don't live in a City or anywhere near, where I can get any battery I want. Thanks for this video, and all the information and the work you put into it!

Which flashlights are durable for everyday use ? The ones I have tried died after a few weeks or a few month ! I have tried LED Lenser, Fenix and Maglite, I have also tried some no-name flashlights which was more durable than the 3 formentioned !!!

Nice review 👍
I only wish that in the external shots I had moved the light beam more slowly (to evaluate the beam)
I have THE PD36R and the PD36 TAC, I'm thinking about which other Fenix will be my next purchase, I'm undecided between PD36R and TK20R V2.0 (I carry the lights on me, currently holstered on my belt I have the TK11 TAC)
I subscribed to your very useful channel

I personally prefer for enclose doors Fenix PD36 TAC because the light is more spread out and you end up with the brighter room and for outside Fenix PD36R Pro because has more light range distance.
I have several Fenix Flashlight and my favourite flashlight this PD36 TAC

FlaskLight Crazy is there some reason all 3 of these flashlights are the R version with a built-in charging port? Isn't that likely to be the weakest point of the design.
Also, glad I'm not using Australian Dollars. I think Canadian Dollars are bad enough!
There may be a better way to test "spot type flashlights outdoors". In your part of Australia does vegitation lose leaves? Being in moderate to thick bush at night can be a real challenge for "spot style beams" and yes FENIX flashlight do qualify as spot beam even with their lower level broad coverage.

Good comparison! Can you tell, if there are differences between the functional switches of the PD35R and the PD36R pro? The PD35R one seems flatter. Is it easy to switch modes, or too easy, by accident? And please do the comparison in the lower modes too!

Last week PD 36R went full to dead instantly just as a cougar was turning to flank me on mount rainier. I was collecting firewood for friends inside the truck and car. I put on my black diamond head lamp and grabbed my pdr36. I was walking in pitch darkness along the carbon river. Picking up branches etc which came down during high winds. I got about 20 meters away, working alone and I am zig zagging carbon river road just outside nps park gate. My pdr36 is scanning left and right and I’mdealing with elk heard and we just seen bobcat cubs nearby as well. I am almost ready to turn back and scan one last section of roadside and my light crosses the unmistakeable luminescence of a wild animals eyes. And they are big and far B apart. The small amount of moonlight comes into focus vaguely silhouetting a MONSTER cougar. This cougar was MASSIVE. It was also head lowered shoulders haunches as if it is a house cat waiting in the grass to pounce on a bird or squirrel. I feel like she was watching me come down the road and she was ready to pounce me. Cougars are rare. Their attacks are kind of scary. They can take a grown man back to their den miles away for her cubs to eat. Two young male mountain bike riders actually got jumped by a cougar in nearby north end a few years ago. One guy got away ran for help. His buddy was killed and found under logs in the cougars den. Some 6 miles away. And not that long later. 20 year old mountain biker. Anyhow these animals can kill. No doubt. I use to run trail alone and always kept a knife close to my chest/ . I have ran and hiked a lot of trails where the cougar can drop im a Mf end your life theoretically, from almost any direction. And it would be fast. Never seen one in the wild ever! They are ultra stealth. But this cougar was. massive and I was not sure what to do. I screamed and got big and I yelled super loud while flailing my arms as far out as I was able. Backing away. Flashlight aimed at cougar: it started flanking me and screaming. It’s headed to vegetation presumably to outflank me. I decide to change a sprint since she isn’t in the bush now and can’t move AS FAST…. Hopefully.

Why I decided to buy PD35R:

1. Slim design with an 18650 battery (compatible with many protected button-top batteries).
2. Dual tail switch, one hand- operation.
3. Beautiful beam profile.
4. Perfect spacing -- from 10 lumens low or high 1000 lumens.

Really comprehensive review, thanks mate! 🔦

Hey there thanks for the reviews, could you please recommend me a good flashlight with zoom in and out capability? I need zoom function for my workspace. Thanks in advance for the help.

Ive seen Fenix around for years but always used surefire or streamlight. Was looking at cloud defense when i found these lights. How does Fenix compare to surefire, streamlight, or cloud defense?

I'd love that PD35R, but it can't tail-stand, which is a silly design mistake: a slightly shorter rubber switch, or slightly longer ears, that's all it would take... Will probably go with a Nitecore instead, you can get them with a "standable" tail cap.
