‘I offer you a chance to survive’: Zelenskiy urges Russian troops to surrender

Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskiy has used his latest address to urge Russian troops to choose giving up arms.

Speaking in Russian, Zelenskiy said, 'On behalf of the Ukrainian people, we give you a chance to live. If you surrender to our forces, we will treat you as humans have to be treated: with dignity. The way you have not been treated in your army. And the way your army doesn’t treat our people. Choose'

We read and learn so much in history of great leaders, great generals, great warriors through the centuries but to be able to say I witnessed this great man leading his people and country through the hardest of battle is just something I never imagined in my lifetime. Whether or not he actually gets a ton of troops to surrender I have no doubt there WILL be some troops surrendering nonetheless and he's now truly put that option in their heads. Because whether or not they've wanted to surrender before, I'm sure it's somewhat comforting to get reassurance DIRECTLY from the man your government is trying to overthrow. 🇺🇦
