GMC Sierra: No Horn

In this video I have a look at a GMC Sierra that came into the shop with a complaint of no horn. However, that was it, all other steering wheel functions worked and no air bag light on. Didn't take long to run down the real issue. -Enjoy!

Another shop would have guessed, ordered the clock spring, and put it in fixing the connector along the way. Customer would have never known. Thanks for continuing to show there is integrity in this world.

Once again, Eric demonstrates his well grounded troubleshooting technique.

4 commercials in a 12 minute video = no bueno. In an Eric O video = totally worth it! Somebody screwed around with one of those airbag wires - the sheathing is scraped off quite a bit. I would have had a close look at that and taped it up before popping the horn button back in. How many thousand others said, “Ivan no parts required repair!”? 👍👏🔧

Yes. Just need a bumper sticker that says: horn broken, watch for finger.

I do emergency roadside assistance here in Australia and I find myself saying, (in your accent) “well there’s your problem lady”.

The day after watching this video, I didn't pass my State Safety check inspection due to my horn not working. I did just like Eric O and tried my panic button on my remote and the horns worked fine. Then I noticed that some of my steering wheel controls didn't work. Turned out to be a bad clock spring for my car. Expensive part but at least I saved on the labor by doing it myself. Thanks Eric.

No horn? No wiring! Great diagnosis! That connector was so loose it could have been a GM assembly error, and it fell off over time. Because "Nobody forgets the details like GM".

I wonder if Eric ever thought his channel would get so big! Over 500k subscribers is impressive and well deserved

This video reminds me of my Dad's 1985 S10 Blazer. Back in the 90s, the spring metal that comprised the switch in the steering wheel had a finger that broke off. It tumbled around when he turned the wheel, often resulting in a string of "angry driver" honks on occasion. This always seemed to happen at the most inopportune times. The best one was at around midnight, on a nice summer night, while going around a slight bend on a city street. You could see the lights go on in the houses as he woke up nearly everyone on the block who had their bedroom windows open.

It was at the repair shop the next day after that.

Just so you know, you have a viewer from India. I wish we had more Mechanics like you here. Keep up the good work!

I've noticed over the years that you have really polished the outros on your videos Eric. Be nice to see you do another day at the shop especially since the extra hired help should allow you to do a more indepth recording of the crew.

At the Chrysler minivan factory we took a small screw driver and put a small notch in the blade end to catch the spring clip on the air bag. Great video bro.

“Stick it in and wiggle it around until you feel the tip hit something”. I didn’t know that we were having the father, son talk....

I love it when I am following the troubleshooting tree, and I test something, and it says to skip a bunch of steps. Makes the job so much easier.

Dam spade connection, remind me of a fault I had on my own Datsun Sunny (UK) 1980's .every 3 or for 4 months when I go round a right hand turn the engine would stall. It would restart immediately with the key and then be fine for another 3 or 4 months. I found the fault by accidentally when touching the wiring harness I noticed the spade connector on the low voltage side of the coil was just slipped on between the boot and spades when when you turned the corner it must of broke connection just enough to kill the ignition but not every time. it took about 4 years to find that one by accident I lent on the harness while doing some thing else and just notice the move of the spade.
