From Fool’s Gold to Sulfur

This isn’t gold—it’s pyrite, famously known as Fool’s Gold. For high-quality ore like this, chipping out select pieces can be more efficient than crushing the entire ore and separating the pyrite later. The chosen pieces are then crushed into a fine powder, increasing the surface area and making extraction more effective.

Next, the powdered pyrite is spread out and roasted at high temperatures, typically achieved with an intense fire. This process oxidizes the pyrite, turning the sulfur into sulfur dioxide gas. Charcoal, added to the fire, helps reduce sulfur dioxide to elemental sulfur, though precise control over the process is limited in a manual setup.

Traditionally, sulfur dioxide gas was condensed using simple tubes or channels. Here, the man uses an improvised method to achieve the same result. After settling overnight, the wet sulfur is spread into rectangular trays to dry, which can be a slow and variable process.
And there it is—elemental sulfur in powdered form, ideal for pest control and as a potent fungicide. From Fool’s Gold to a valuable tool!

My man left out the part where breathing in Sulphur trioxide in the heating process is lethal .

Sulfur is cheap and readily available nowadays.
The iron from the pyrite is more valuable

I like this channel. He tells us as much info as possible about what they are doing in the video. No just leaving us with half a story like other channels with a i

Funny enough some pyrite also contains a small amount of gold😊

I use to make Tons of liquid Sulfur every night. Worked at a gas processing plant. Striped out H2S and converted it to liquid. Lots or Liquid. Took a full shot of Pure H2S from a pipe leak right to the Face. Wasn't my time to go.

What's the purpose of "chipping out select pieces" if you're going to crush them anyway

I found a chunk of fools gold the size of a football. Took it to a few places no one could tell me what it was. Used it as a paper weight until someone stole it. Just now finding out what it was.

They just discover that pyrite well some of it is actually more valuable than gold. Due to some pockets have rare earth minerals in it.

What fatherly work you've put in to my character which was miniscule to say the most, is the amount of fatherly respect that I have for you .That cannot be lost like ground .Respect for you as a man and a fellow worker you have allowed me an immeasurable amount. I'd have to get a instrument of detection from a machinist . If it were detectable at all it would take x- rays to detect the voids where it should have been
