How-to connect a ESC to a motor

This is a simple how to.

Howto connect a ESC to a motor.

Step 1: the way the wires go together does not matter

Step 2: if you motor spins the wrong way swap any two wires.

Step 3: Thats it.

Thanks Grumpy. I have been concerned about which wire goes where between my motor and esc, since all the motor wires are black. Had visions of connecting two live wires and seeing smoke rising. Now I can fit my new glider motor with confidence.

That answered a nagging question or two for me. Thank you. Very easy and informative. I just looked at my boats motor and esc all with different coloured wires and wondering which is positive and negative? Is the third wire neutral?! 😅

Not sure what you are asking, but always better to have a ESC that are rated to provide more amps then needed, I use a 60A ESC on my 450 size helicopter, but could get away with using a 40 amp ESC, but to big not a issue (unless the size is too big), but to small a ESC will burn out the ESC

Short and sweet. to the point. Which connector to use when motor and ESC are not supplied with them. I have 25Kw motor and 380A Esc the three wires from the motor are 5mm dia. and the ESC has 4mm dia.

motors that have only 2 wires are brushed motors, and you need to use a brushed esc with that motor. the setup in this video is a brushless motor and esc
