Bought Arlo Pro 3 from Arlo in June this year, superseded model so cheaper... I'm now going to ditch them, sick of the constant wifi interference. Tried a number of "fixes", nothing works. Pc will not connect to wifi at all any more, and TV's, phones, laptop and ipad periodically disconnect daily... and they're not all on at the same time. Gonna try Eufy 🤩

I just updated probably ten year old D-Link 720p and 480p cameras that just aren't supported anymore. I did some research and settled on Eufy going all in, mostly because of the reasons you gave for the Arlo subscription required for most of the functionality.

The icing on the cake for me was seeing the four, 4k solar camera with Homebase 3 that holds a hard drive on Amazon for $639 new over the July 4 weekend. I also bought six of the 2k pan and tilt indoor cameras as well to monitor the home while I'm away. I plan on the home security sensors, keypad, and doorbell next. I'm very happy with their products for the last 2 weeks I've been using them.

The question I have though is about Eufy. You didn't mention that Eufy offers a 24/7 monitoring option that is supposed to qualify for home insurance discounts. They offer two plans, for either $50 a year or $100 a year for the plus plan, which has the monitoring. Was there a reason you didn't cover the Eufy subscription for monitoring?

Man ive been thinking about switching. Been using Arlo for 3 years now. I have the Secure plus plan. For some reason i always get some kind of interference. Especially when I need the camera the most for some reason its gets an interference and doesnt record.

If people actually understood technology they would understand that the Eufy security concerns were unjust and exponentially blown out of proportion.
1). Access to a video stream via VLC involved an attacker having to have hacked into your network. In which case you have bigger issues. Also they would have needed to cobble together a URL for the camera. Also not an easy task.
2) Thumbnails to the cloud. This is how rich push notifications work for all apps. A user has the option to not have rich notifications, thus no thumbnail to the cloud.

I was an Arlo user for 5 years. Five Arlo Pro 2 HD cameras all with solar panels. Since they implemented an end of life for the products and stopped the free 7 day cloud storage. I bought the Eufy four pack S330 HB3 cameras with built in solar panels and lights. Increased the storage to 4 TB, even purchased an additional 2 Eufy Cam 3C’s. All in all i prefer Eufy. However, there some things the Arlo cams did that were slightly better. Arlo had motion and sound detection. Eufy only has motion detection. Arlo allowed 3 minutes of custom recording. Eufy with is much bigger battery only allows for 2 minutes custom recording. Speaking of batteries Arlo had removable, replaceable batteries. Eufy batteries are built in and cannot me replaced. The Arlo audio recordings where better. The speakers are bettter than Eufy cameras. Mind you these are cameras for over 6 years ago. However, Eufy has faster notifications and even still screenshots when it’s possible. In the end I prefer Eufy.

Good eval and assessment of the camera & storage, but what about other devices and user controls? I'd like to know if water sensors, lights, electric plugs, etc. can be controlled from the hub. And really like to see an evaluation of the user app(s) - remotely turning devices on/off, schedules, arm & disarm, battery status, etc...

Team Arlo for me. The 8 in 1 sensor sold me, excellent cameras for the price, and affordable Premium Secure Plan. I got all of this for under 300. I got 5 sensors, and two outdoor cameras.

I just need to make sure the staff from my apartment complex is recorded if they enter when I am not home, I have the original Arlo but it doesn’t record anymore?

How about TP-Link as an alternative? They seem to have local storage and also have a cloud service that you can subscribe to if you want but you don't have to.

I have a hard time understanding Arlo's marketing strategy 🙂! You buy the hardware and then you have to pay an eternal monthly fee to use it? Are they crazy? Kudos to the sales strategist. I have migrated and am still migrating to other vendors.

As I look at options to switch to local storage, this is helpful. Thanks.

Not only is Arlo taking AWAY features in the software such as multiple custom zone configurations on multiple cameras, Eufy is continuously adding them. Arlo's development seems like it was offshored and put into maintenance mode.

There is an opportunity for a company to come up with an offer that overlaps these two companies. My big draw for Eufy was its S330 solar powered eufyCam and no subscription. With Arlo I would have had to link a separate solar panel something ungainly and would have ended up with a subscription. The drawbacks? I am missing Arlo's Apple compatibility and its ability to function as a proper CCTV system albeit I have no idea how good this is from Arlo. It is a tough choice and I made mine with some difficulty. At the end the thought of having another bill coming in every month was too much to bear and so a decision was taken. I note Eufy's offer for wi-fi free solar powered cams meaning one can place a cam anywhere in the planet where there is cellular phone signal and still no subscription something I believe Arlo doesn't offer.

Team Eufy no doubt about it. No subscription is my main drawcard

I've had arlo for a while now and hate it. Still searching for a good camera. Does eufy's video have a few second delay when you do live view? Arlo always have a delay like it's live but as I'm watching the video, it'll show the person moving and as the person stop moving the video will still show them moving and it takes at least 6-8 seconds to get to the part where the person stop. So it's not really live. The only camera I noticed that really have a live accurate is wyze camera but then wyze doesn't have good angles in coverage and quality isn't the best. I would have to buy multiple camera to have good coverage in all angles.

Currently hardwired with a Honeywell/Vista panel setup. Are there any companies that make a homebase hub where I can wire in all my door/window relays instead of buying and maintaining all the wireless sensors?

I really like those built-in solar panels on the Eufy... It's a pain having to charge these battery powered Arlo cameras. Also would love to get away from this subscription. Think I'll give Eufy a try.
