not allowing players to close group GR's is probably a preventative measure against potential griefing

Who would have thought that we get any gr changes... Last ones were end of 2016 with the introduction of festering woods etc. Wow. I like it, so much qualify of life

I'm a very casual player. The best GR I've ever done is a 138. For me, I do like these notes. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's noticed the wondering Blue Man Group who aren't getting all funky with the surf! Spaghetti is for eating, not for fighting. So, glad for the GR rift map changes. Typically, I complete the season for the rewards/cosmetics. If this is a new task, then great. I wan't something more than just playing the same thing, but at a higher tier (which I just don't have the time for). Thanks for the review, Raxx! J

Great patch. If the new game mode stays in the core game, then this is the best patch ever

I would like two more smalls quality of life changes for greater rifts, which console players have:
- display the timer
- display the current %

without mouseover, ofc

As for my rating... As a player who is virtually always solo, and relatively casual (although I play every season and follow the game's changes pretty closely) I would rate this a 7.5, pending review. Meaning, not nearly as cool as the previous two seasons, of which Ethereals is my favorite season ever, but if the GR changes are good and the new game mode is really fun and rewarding, the rating could go up.

Pessimists: sooo just an endless cursed chest?
Honestly this sounds pretty solid, now if for season 27 they just bring back 2 and 3 word rune words to socket into chests and pants 😁

very happy with these changes. After finally doing 150 solos I realised that the game held no real appeal for me anymore as all i would be doing would be incrementally improving something I already (finally) achieved ...and I'm no where near like Rax and his godly 150 clears HS SSF ...I mean, where do you go from that feat?....so potential for a new game mode has really brought me back into the hype. cant wait.

Maybe this is the best patch notes. The best part that I was hyped was Blizz team really do their job to improve the game and I believe D3 have a good future. However, there are many set gears /builds still waiting for love.

If gaining access to Echoing Nightmare is very difficult/rare, then this will be yet another seasonal theme that will only be of interest to players who put in 10 hours a day and have 3000+ paragon. Though, the improvements to greater rifts should be a very nice quality of life improvement for the rest of us.

A new mode sounds amazing, I believe these notes can revitalize the game more than recent content has. the D3 team seems to listen, and as long as the auction house doesn't end up in the notes, I'm happy.

Looking to me like a "trials 2.0" but honestly if they do it right this time, it could be amazing. looking forward to trying it.

On the mystic allies side of things, with the water allies, it might be simple to reset the timer of (or respawn) the ally right before they trigger the waterfalls.

On the fire allies, the bug has to do with how they path. Right now they are blocking on collision with the monsters, which causes them to stop in their tracks. To get them to pass through, one would have to go through the muck that is the D3 codebase (which I can assure you, they are actively doing as we speak).

Code has a tendency to grow organically as time passes. Like weird prose written by an assortment of weird authors. The result is the Corvus map we all love, only 100 times larger and full of treasure goblins taunting you with their laughter. I'm willing to bet this is also why we can't close rifts in multiplayer yet. They're probably about 90% there but just keep running into a wall with a bug in some code from a dev who left years ago.

One thing we can all agree on, this team is committed. I've seen a ton of things get fixed and a ton of improvements put into a game that probably has a codebase they still have to decrypt on a daily basis. I can assure you, there are some dedicated nerds in that team, and given some time I think they'll iron out the kinks and give us the best version of D3 yet

The Closing in Single Player is nice, in group play it would potentially promote griefing. Short lived griefing, but nonetheless.

The new game mode reminds me of the original greater rift trial you used to go through to determine what level GR key you would get.

They've watched the maxroll greater rift guide vids, they even used your terms. At least they've paid attention.

Marauder DH needs some serious damage mitigation improvements. Having the turrets give Life on Hit when they hit instead of just the character would help. Or... getting a temporary shield on the 2 pc for each turret you put down (10% of life for 10 seconds), which would help with squirt necklace.

If the reward in a new mode is going to scale with group strength a lot and they require each member of party to have a rare key, then group fishing will probably introduce even more frustration for casual mostly "solo" players.
