If it was renovated 2 years ago, they should have put in a fire sprinkler system. I know in some states it’s part of the building code even for residential homes. So sad with it being so historic.

Sad to see a historic building lost. Glad everyone’s safe.

These old bed and breakfasts get handed down generation to generation without the upkeep needed to ensure safety. Especially in new england where historical structure preservation is a cultural norm.

If it’s a private owner that lost their investment today, it’s a sad story.

If a corporation owned it, they should be looked into, because a lot of these small hotels, and bed and breakfasts places, need more renovation than they are worth, so these investment companies just set them on fire to make up for their loss.

There once was a man from Nantucket.
His house was so old they forgot to put fire suppression in it.

It’s always sad to see historical landmarks destroyed. But I guess as you get older, nothing can ever stay the same to what you’re used to.

The New one built on this lot will be made out of concrete and steel. New codes were require a fire sprinkling system too. This 4 floor wooden structure was a Matchstick waiting to go up. Thank God no one got killed.

Its starting to look like businesses that are failing "accidently" are being destroyed for insurance money just saying.

1790? So a nat landmark? Why didn't this nat landmark have extraordinary fire suppression systems added to protect it?
