There's been a lot of hype around the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 - I've spent six months with this little camera, learning how to squeeze cinematic images out of it and experimenting with D-log M footage - so let's cut through the hype and find out what this camera is REALLY like to shoot on, the good, the bad and the ugly!

The more videos you make about the Osmo Pocket 3, and the more beautiful footage you keep sharing in those videos, the more I'm wondering if I should just go out and buy one. There has never been a single moment when I've really needed something like it... yet I can't help but wonder 😂

First off, amazing footage and grading! A testament to both the camera's possibilities and your skill with it. Like you I had a strong first impression with it, in terms of use and its image. I first tried it in a dark room and a person light but 2 low power raw bulbs, definitely not flattering, but the camera handled the roll off in a wonderfully nuanced way. Felt like some out of one of my pro bodies. Thanks for the thoughts and tips!

The thing about this is it makes filming easy.
I’ve got a ZVE1 which I love, but was finally tempted to buy this for some travel, and when I can’t get arsed taking the bigger camera.
It is extremely good and its image is superb for sensor and package size.

I have wanted one for a while. I think it would be great for my bicycling videos, both for the portability and for the capability. On my last big trip, i brought 7 cameras including a Mini 4 Pro and i accidentally took a shot while walking with the drone that came out smoother than my gopro footage. That made me think it's time to get one of these for some of the handheld shots. I might buy one today. Good video!

I requested them make a backup recording handle (for pro work I always worry if the single MicroSD card might fail!!), with evt earbud port for audio monitoring, but I just figured that the right Type-C earbuds can monitor audio already! duh! I'd wonder if DJI Pocket 4 could come with micro43 sensor size, ok they can make it twice as thick, perhaps 4x heavier overall, could still be pocketable, but with better handle that shapes with the hand, provides 4" flip out display, dual storage recording (could be one card + internal SSD or two cards), double the battery, and perhaps some live streaming features in Pocket 4 would be nice, including USB to 5G modem with eSIM or Sim card slot, and possibility to bond multiple modems somehow. And support for easy multi-cam filming in sync that can also real-time edit from a phone into the livestream. But now I'm sure I'm asking for too much 😎😎

I like your recommendation, DJI are quite good at listen to their customers (I think SmallRig as well) so hopefully they add those additions you mentioned. Maybe in the OP4 they do a 360 camera rotation, that would be welcome and very sweet! I have had my OP3 approaching a year now and used it quite a bit on travel, much easier than the mirrorless/lenses.

Intrested in your lut wont be using it for an osmo though, do you think this lut would fit the dlog for my DJI Ronin 4D ?

@2:57: Yeah, just keep playing with that tactile flippy-open screen, off-on, off- on, off-on, and you will have a busted OP3 in no time ! I also purchased the OP3 Combo-Kit, and I can also testify it is one excellent camera. This puppy will even Jam-sync to an external TC source, which is definitely not an amateur hour feature. The only thing which concerns me about my OP3 is it is not weather sealed, and it is a rather delicate piece of technology. Also, it looks like the grand majority of feature suggestions I and many other OP3 users have been steadily submitting to DJI are NOT going to be included in any future firmware update. Rather, it looks like DJI is going to save them for the next iteration of the OSMO Pocket camera (OP4 ?), so we’re going to have to buy another product to get any of these new features The latest firmware update for the DJI Mic 2 (Included with the Combo-Kit) had a new audio EQ curve, which has greatly improved the sound quality when you use it with the OP3, plus recording 32 Bit Float Audio in sync with the Video from the camera yields incredible results.

It's sad phone manufacturers don't take video seriously — only Apple has Log profile with minimal processing, while Chinese manufacturers have 1" type sensors but just slap 8K on it and call it a day.

Phenomenal video and images !!! Do you have any videos showing how to expose for Dlog M? Also adding LUTS to FCPX? I’ve gotten inconsistent results and can’t see myself using resolve but would love to get close to your images ❤

Great, informative video - thank you! With the improvements you mentioned, could we in effect have a poor person's Ronin 4D..? It feels like it's not that far from being able to shoot a higher-end narrative (for the right project). A very interesting camera, and it does feel as you say in the video - disruptive.
