With the emerging industries, there are opportunities for new job roles. Its good that the government encourage retraining/upskilling etc. Most mid careers I know including myself have done the necessary steps (reskill, upskill) and still get turned down due to ageism or other form of discrimination. It is important the companies keep an open mind and not be so narrow minded about hiring such employees who can add value to the company. We still need to address this shortcoming which is still existing in the 21st century Singapore which is grappling with shortage of manpower but choose to be blind with the current problem!

It completely useless knowing which job is hot RIGHT NOW. Spent years studying from general to specialise school aka university. Are u going to switch job far beyond your skill? Do they(the company) take u in? Hell no of course. What useful knowing is jobs IN THE FUTURE might look like, how A.I, Quantum computer redesign our approach to work.

There are not many opportunities for people to build skills and grow their interest in mechanical engineering. Mechanical skills are needed to install, deinstall or build machineries or devices. All these requires space, workshop and tools for machining. Mechanical skills are valuable skills for green tech, drone and robotics, imaging such as FLIR, IR, propulsion, cybernetics, etc....
