This is GREAT information for ALL Crossbow shooters. The "science" of constructing todays Crossbows is that a science. The ability to reach 500 fps is awesome but the Crossbow shooting 300fps will still kill an animal, that said the more you learn the safer we will be. Great series of Videos.

I used to do this all the time with my compound. Not as much now that I've switched to crossbows. Age thIng, lol. I have found, 90% of my arrows are knocked correctly. If you notice they usually put the offset color vane on whatever advertisement/name they put on The bolt. Most quality, keyword, quality bolt manufacturers are good about this. But this videos worth doing for sure. Just for the couple that might be off. Thank you for ur effort on putting out a quality video.

If you need to nock tune and you use lighted nocks, they seem to be harder to turn and index compared to a standard nock. There is a weight difference lighted vs. standard of about 20 or so grains lighted heavier. If you have a grain scale, you can weigh your lighted nock-insert combination and make an equal weight standard nock that will closely match. Take a birdshot shotgun shell and cut it open and use the shot pellets inside of the standard nock glued in with rtv adding pellets and weighing until you get a matched weight. Fishing splitshot will also work but need to be very small. End result should be a factory nock that weighs the same a your lighted nock of choice and is easier to test and tweek with.

Awesome video, I just got a KI Diesel X crossbow and love it. How do you like the 390 grain KI Hypr bolts? Mine seamed like the tail was wobbling when I shot them even though they grouped ok. Got some 400 grain Barnett headhunters from Walmart and they shot much better and grouped good. I was looking at the Black Eagle Executioners but that may be to big a jump from 390 grains to 426 grains.

Great advice, I have 2 Centerpoint crossbows, Wrath 430 & Amped 425, the Centerpoint bolts have glued in Nocks. I purchased killer instinct bolts, but they are lighter (270 grains with no point, vs 300 grain on the centerpoint bolts (again no point). So they'd be total 400 grain or 370 grain with 100 grain field point or broadheads. My question, do you think 370 grain bolts are too light (they shoot awesome) ? The Amped 425 is rated "up to 425 fps", but only shooting 400 with the 400 grain bolts.

Got a question for you. I am new to the crossbow game. I see you are setting paper some distance away from the crossbow and when i paper tune my bow i set it at about 10 feet. I do this to see how the arrow leaves the bow. Is there a different logic used when paper tuning the arrows when it comes to crossbow?

For glued in Knox use compressed air in a can from the office store. Spray down in the shaft in the arrow looking aqua pull out.

I saw a video here on YouTube about finding the spine. He used a pipe clamp and it really works!! I went and checked my new vertical arrows a marked it and started there for my nock tuning (bare shaft)... Bullet holes or damn close right off the bat.
Next were my xbow arrows... I had some in the practice pile... I checked them, refletched and they "suddenly" were hitting bullseyes. User name is "mat in texas" and the link
