I use mindmapping a lot. Mindmapping helps me get things structured and especially helps to quickly get the things on my mind on paper in a way I can later on use it.

How Mind Mapping helps to build my success

So, it's about time to let you in again on one of the ways I work. A tip :). This time the tip is about mind mapping.

I use mindmapping a lot. Mindmapping helps me get things structured and especially helps to quickly get the things on my mind on paper in a way I can later on use it.

So what is it? Basically it's a way of brainstorming on your own, but you can do this perfectly well within groups. I actually advice many of my students to use mind mapping when it comes to figuring out what they need to do in a campaign and even more interesting: to make a profile of their target audiences.

The reason why I urge them to do this is because it forces them to think about next steps. If you "just" create a list of things, that list ends and you are not directly triggered to think further.

I use minmapping for many different things:
- creating a to do list and thus not forgetting things I also need to do
- creating profiles of target audiences
- creating a structure for my presentations
- writing articles: creating an overview.

There are many tools to do this with. I often just use pen and paper but there are plenty of tools to be found both online and as a downloadable program you can use for this. For example I use 'Mindjet' as an app on my tablet and I have 'Xmind' on my Macbook. That way you can also more easily share the mindmaps with others.

I actually made a video to show you how I do it. In the video I start mindmapping for an article I'm going to write.

So, do you use mindmapping?
