Josh and Kalie from ExpatsEverywhere asked their Patrons on Patreon what they wanted to see them do on their Christmas travels. They voted to explore Mannheim, Germany because there have been some pretty funny headlines about it and how it is supposedly the city of everything. Unfortunately they only have 24 hours to be there and have to figure out if it really is the city of everything in this short time period. What do they see? Do they get to all of the numbers on the map? Do they think it's the city of everything? Join them on this adventure!

7. Paradeplatz
9. Barockschloss Mannheim
10. Planken
14. Wasserturm
15. Benz-Denkmal
17. Fernmeldeturm

I’m a native Californian and I live and grew up here in Mannheim (there used to be way more Americans here, back when we still had all the military installations).
Next time you guys pass by, I’d love to show you around.
Not just Mannheim but also the surrounding area like Heidelberg etc.
The car was invented here (by Carl Benz) as well as what’s considered to be the first bicycle, so there’s actually a lot of history.

Edit: and you guys really did smell chocolate lol, we have a chocolate factory in Jungbusch.

I have a lot of great memories of Mannheim. From 1989 to 1991, I was stationed at Coleman Barracks in Sandhofen, just north of Mannheim. Days relaxing at Luisenpark, shopping at World of Music, great food, concerts, Eichbaum beer, large pretzels across from the MarktPlatz, being awakened by the conductor at the end of the strassenbahn line, trying to figure out where I am and how to get home...

A really nice video. I´m from Mannheim and i must say, Mannheim is much more then in the video see. I miss the spirit of the town and the magic of "multi kulti". One day is not enough for this great city.

Mannheim is probably my favourite place outside of the UK. Go over every year for a couple of hockey games. Its not an immediately obvious tourist city, but there's plenty to see and do. A great place for a long weekend because of the places that are only a short train journey away. Day trip to Heidelberg is a must, but nothing comes close to my pre-match hockey routine. Food in Murphy's Law. Tram from Tattersall to SAP Arena. Get your standing spot in the stehplatz and (hopefully) cheer Die Adler to victory. The people of Mannheim have always been fantastic when I've been over for hockey. Loads of soccer options in the area and pro handball too. Just a brilliant place to visit.

Didn’t you just love Luxembourg? We stayed in little Portugal area last time, it was wonderful. Haven’t done Mannheim só next time. Love all the wall art you see through out Europe.

You were staying right in my neighborhood. I love Mannheim and it looks like you had fun as well.

Edit: the car, the bicycle, the escalator and the spaghetti ice were invented in Mannheim. So we like to invent thins.

Great teamwork as usual. That is a ton of stops in small amount of time. I have never heard of that town. Maybe on the next trip can you visit on the inside of some of the places.

I have been to Luxembourg, but never set foot in Germany. Go figure. When I was in Luxembourg it was for work and we always went into France the week that I was there. Someday hope to make Germany. Looked like a fun trip to Mannheim.

I love Mannheim. I used to be stationed there while in the army; Kafertal section. Just hop on the number 5 train and straight to downtown.

Guys, Manheim seems pretty dull. I have been only once there and would never fly to get there for 24 hours. Another thing, if the trip took place after 25 December, you should check out the covid restrictions in Germany for people coming from Portugal (especially the little one/quarentine of at least 5 days). Stay safe.
