Is Cryptocurrency the Bridge Between Meatspace & Virtual Realities?

It is only in the real world -- 'meatspace' -- that we currently work and trade for life's necessities of food, shelter, clothing, etc. Because in-game currencies and basic virtual reality software/hardware already exist, would sufficient blockchain-based advances enable the transfer of scarce digital property within virtual reality?

Amanda, there are two particularly prescient books that can give you a view of what shared virtual worlds can be. I was unable to finish either one because the particular type of suspense is just not my cup of tea. Nonetheless I strongly suggest anyone interested in the realm check them out. The first is Reamde: A Novel by Neal Stephenson (an incredible author who has been hired by Magic Leap as their "futurist. Reamde is as I spelled it)

The second and more of a staple in the VR community is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. It is aimed at a younger readership but is nonetheless fascinating for world created in it.

What I caught from the beginning and end of your video is the idea of using a blockchain as a virtual, consensus history for such a world and I had a similar WOW experience to what you did. This stands outside the realm of currency but is nonetheless an amazing application that unhooks the worlds from central control.

Ok so first of all I really have to say what he is talking about with consensual realities really reminds me of the book by William Gibson "The Peripheral" which is a very excellent book. Also on somewhat of a sidenote, I would be very curious Amanda to hear your thoughts on www.metamaps.cc and the reason I am curious to know your thoughts is because it is very close to the idea of decentralized autonomous society, or at least this is a tool that can be used.
