thank you so so much for making this video echo!! at my school middle school goes from 7-9th grade and i’ve been feeling nervous as an upcoming 8th grader, last summer i watched a ton of middle school advice videos but none of them have been as helpful as this one. this upcoming school year i wanted to be more confident and be able to put myself out there when making new friends, and listening to your tips made me feel so much more prepared! i am so excited to watch the middle school advice video you will be posting with your friends!

this vid probably helped a lot of people, and as someone who’s going to high school in 2 weeks i have some tips that will def help make middle school the best years of ur life. i’m ngl middle school was absolute hell (especially 7th grade). i’m not saying ur middle school experience will b horrible but here’s some things i WISHH i knew going into middle school.

- don’t get yourself a bad reputation in middle school, especially if you live in a small town because principals and superintendents DO TALK ABT U, and you want them to be saying good things, not bad things.

- avoid fighting/instigating fights. only fight to defend yourself. it will look horrible on your middle school transcripts and will only get you trouble, and getting into tons of fights will only have you walking into high school with a target on your back. i got into one fight my entire middle school career and i didn’t even wanna fight her it was just bc she had put her hands on ME FIRST, and they still tried to charge me, it’s just not worth it, because if somebody hits you too hard you can get seriously injured, and believe it or not you can kill someone if you hit them hard enough in the wrong spot (possible lifetime in prison is worth it right?) esp if they decide to try and press charges.

- don’t get into, start OR instigate drama. if someone is talking abt you, ignore them, if the drama doesn’t involve you stay out it, and don’t listen to what ppl are telling you that person is saying abt u unless they say it to ur face, that’s exactly how drama starts. but don’t let nobody bully you, know when you have to stand up for urself, but don’t just lash out at every small comment somebody makes about you. and if you go into middle school getting into drama intentional or not, your middle school experience will not be good. (ask me how i know 🤣👎🏾)

- don’t let minor things you can’t control stress you out, if you got a bad grade and you studied it ok, you’ll do better next time. don’t beat urself up for little things, you’ll get it the next time around 🤞🏾

- please care abt ur grades, coming from someone who had a’s and b’s every year, middle school is VERY easy IF YOU PAY ATTENTION and if you don’t understand something, ask your teacher if they have a few minutes during lunch, or look it up on yt, that always works for me. and yes grades do matter. the grades you have for middle school (especially 8th grade) can determine what classes you get into for high school, and if you have to retake a class, and trust me you do not wanna b doing summer school while evb else is having fun 🙅🏾‍♀️

- take care of ur hygiene, try to shower everyday in the morning b4 school, and if you don’t have enough time shower the night b4. these next few things might sound obvi, but ppl in middle school are musty asf and they will talk abt u if you stink so pls, wear deodorant, perfume, cologne, and keep an emergency kit in your locker or backpack at all times it came in handy so much during middle school, and if your friends need something you can give it to them. :)

- build relationships with your teachers, don’t be disrespectful in class, pay attention, and ask questions. if you need help with something or are struggling ask them if you could stay after class or a couple minutes during lunch. it shows teachers you care and they will be willing to bump your grade up if you show ur trying. and when dealing with teachers who don’t like you it’s best to avoid interacting with them as much as possible and just do what youre told, but know when to stand up for yourself when appropriate, it’ll help you in the long run.

- please please please for the love of God DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT do things your “peers” are doing just to fit in. you WILL attract the wrong crowd and end up with fake friends. just please be yourself and if you are genuine you will attract a good group of ppl to surround urself with. and on the note of friends, don’t be fake, if you don’t wanna be friends with smb don’t smile in they face then go talk abt them behind their back, it’s not cute 🤦🏾‍♀️

- be involved! i only joined one sport and one club my entire middle school career and i regret it so much. it’s an easy way to make friends and gives you the skills you need if you want to do the sport in hs. i did basketball this year and it was so fun i wish i had done other sports b4. turf to go on every field trip you can, and take lots of photos to cherish your middle school years 😊

- don’t do drugs, this should be obvious, but don’t take drugs from nb even your friend, something as “simple” as a vape could be laced with ANYTHING and your friend might not even know that. it’s so easy to get addicted to things like weed and nicotine especially in this generation 🤷🏽‍♀️ and if you get caught with you are very likely to be sent to an alternative school or even expelled from the entire district (ik smb who ts happened to)

- and last but definitely NOT LEAST. don’t bully ppl, one of the other reasons my middle school was so freaking horrible was because of there mean girls who acted like my “friends” thought it was cool to make fun of me, leave me out, and just overall made me hate going to school everyday. it got so bad to the point where i was harming myself bc i couldn’t deal with ts no more. so please just be nice even when others don’t show you kindness you never know what someone’s going through. go sit with that girl who’s always alone, share your lunch with the girl who never has one, be partners with the girl who’s always left out. and if you think bullying is ok, search up aubreigh wyatt, and then ask yourself what type of person you are.

Oh my gosh this will help me so much because every middle school advice I have seen never tells me like how to manage cutting off your friends or even talking about how to have a good year and they are all just the same but yours will actually help me because now I realize I need to cut off my bad friends I rather be happy then have toxic friends, grade 6 wasn't much of a good year for me I'm going to a new school now so its like a new start to make my middle school experience even better and just be grateful and be confidence I think my confidence grew after this so thank you Echo ( the minute I woke up and saw this I was like OH MY GOSH THIS CAN WAIT I NEED THIS!
