The History Of The KOOPALINGS (Mario Series)

In todays story behind we look at the lore and history of the koopalings from the mario games. They have a mysteries origin and back ground story which is seen in games like new super mario bros wii, new super mario bros u and new super mario bros 2. but they also appear in alot of spin off games like mario kart 8, super smash bros wii u but weirdly enough not in super mario maker.

I've always really liked the Koopalings.Thei're just a so sensful addition to the Mario Universe and also serve perfect as alternate skins for Bowser Jr. in Super Smash Bros..

Fun fact: The original names had to be given to cartoon versions of the Koopalings. Larry became Cheatsy, Morton became Big Mouth, Wendy was changed to Kootie Pie, Iggy became Hop, Roy changed to Bully, Lemmy became Hip & Ludwig changed to Kookie.

I still feel the koopalings being his children makes the most sense. I thought the manuals, both japanese and american stated they were his children anyway, so I don't know why they'd change it later. Also, the koopalings are rather young. Why would Bowser have children/teenagers running his castles? Why would entrust them with so much power? I don't think he would do it to just random children unless they were is, which would make more sense why he'd spoil them with stuff. Also, I'd find it interesting if Bowser Jr. would be given special treatment over the other koopalings, mostly because he looks like Bowser the most, and Bowser favors him over all the other children, which is why he's in a higher position and next in line for the throne. That would make the other children jealous, which would be interesting to see.

According to Nintendo, the Koopalings are not Bowser's children. This was an idea that was devised in the N. American handbook for SMB 3 (just like their names), but Nintendo has stated that it is not the case, and Bowser Jr. is the only child of Bowser. His mother is unknown (but Shigeru Miyamoto has joked that he himself is Jr.'s mother).

I know they get a lot of hate for being "unoriginal bosses" and "taking slots" but I love these guys and i'm glad they came back for New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I'm a lot more accepting of Bowser Junior now that I know he's not totally replacing them, that was a genuine concern back when he was first revealed. Really hope they get to appear in a 3D Mario some day.

I enjoy using Wendy O Koopa in Mario Kart 8. Come on, she's the only female Koopaling and I used her the second time playing the demo version of MK8 at my local Best Buy (I usually main Luigi too)

When it comes to the lore of the Koopa Kids, I prefer to use the DiC shows for reference. The shows gave them, in my opinion, better names, personalities, and characterization.
