Reviewing the Xiaomi 14 Ultra Photography Kit, to boost your camera experience with more battery power and physical improvements. This unboxing and full tour of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra camera kit shows off all of the bits you get for £170 UK. Check out my verdict on the actual flagship smartphone in my separate review!

Now I'm already impressed by the excellent shooting experience on this mighty device, one of the best camera phones of 2024 for photo and video capture. However, if you have an extra bit of cash, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra Photography Kit is a worthy accessory. Not only does this improve the comfort and protect your expensive smartphone; it also adds physical buttons. You've got a dedicated shutter, zoom slider, video record and custom dial.

On top of that, this camera kit adds a secondary battery to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. So if you're shooting all day long, you hopefully won't face a dead phone before night time.

And you can also add filters to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra's camera if you have even more cash to spend on that!

That grip is actually so cool. I wish more phones did this

Took my 14 ultra out for a photo session. Incredible photos, the best by far from any phone I have ever used. Competitive with my Leica Q too!

For that price tag combined with the fact that you already bought the phone itself, they could have included like two filters to play around with.

Amaaazing! I am suspecting that in future this kit could even be re-engineered to make those lens rings to be able to improve zoom and focus.

Happy that you used the two steps of the shutter button. All other reviewers didn't so far and that's ridiculous. 😅

10+ years ago, as an accessory, the Nokia Lumia 1020 had a dedicated camera grip.

Not only do you get the official international version in Hong Kong or Taiwan for 865 pounds, the photography kit comes free for people who buy the phone on release day, and if that isn't enough there are 3 filters thrown in for free too. Rip off Britain!

Great Review and a very useful piece of kit. Well worth it for holidays and photographers. I think we will be seeing a lot of this from now on. The Chinese innovation is starting to seriously accelerate now. The newer Android tablets from Xiaomi and Honor are fantastic tablets at jaw dropping prices. The gamers will have to for the more expensive processors but for media consumers you get amazing value from 200 to 400 in terms of screen size and speakers, a Bluetooth keyboard and you never have to suffer Windows again. And with Huawei you can decontaminate from Google.

Xiaomi UK are giving this kit plus a tablet as part of a deal right now. Plus £150 off +trade in. I put in my old Oppo find x5 pro and was offered £229 +£150 off the £1299 price then getting the photo kit & tablet. Seems like a sweet enough deal. Considering it

I bought one of this last week. It's amazing, but there are some bugs:
1. When you press the button to record video, you can't return to Photo mode... you need to touch the screen to manually select Photo mode.
2. There is no place to check the grip battery level. You need to disconnect and reconnect USB cable to make the battery level information pop-up on screen.
3. The option to keep the smartphone battery charged on 80% does not works. The grip battery's continuously charge the smartphone battery, keeping it on 100%.

I remember Sony saying that smartphones will rival dSLR's in a few years. They weren't kidding!

The camera accessory is currently free along with pad 6 gravity tablet which is fine for kids to mess around on.. Just needs a case.
Overall very impressed so far. Like spurt said the clip on accessory makes it even heavier and there's not a lot of advantage except showing off when out! The orange ring is neat though.
Will I regret not waiting for Pura 70? Bloody hope not

Couldn't wait to get the camera kit, problem is it doesn't work properly, you cant use EV compensation when in pro mode, if you set it to say, , shutter speed or ISO instead, that doesn't work in normal mode, set the zoom lever up, it doesn't work in pro mode, and you cant re-allocate to another function other than zoom which doesn't work in pro mode, surely most of the folk willing to fork out for the camera kit are photographers, professional or armature looing for that familiar feel and control, so why set the dam thing up this way it makes it almost useless, /gutted

Why didn't you get the camera kit free with the phone and the free tablet? For £1, 249 you could have got the phone, camera kit and a Xiaomi Pad 6....

At this point, it's a camera masquerading as a phone

This is the first android phone with a camera sensor that is capable of a 14bit readout which is actually insane. The previous max was 12bit meaning smartphone cameras might soon be capable of 14.7 stops of dynamic range. Iphone 15 pro maximum was 13.4 at ISO 1200.
