This video shows how to mount 4-wheeler, ATV, Go-Cart, and Lawnmower tires yourself, at home, using no special tools. I show how to quickly break tire beads, change the tire, and reset the bead.

In this video, I'm mounting wider tires onto a Suzuki z90's stock 5.5 inch wheels.

The Tire Pressure Gauge I recommend for low-pressure tires:

One other tip, too make the tire more flexible leave the tire out in the sun when you pull the tire off the rim. A cold rubber is much stiffer and a warm to hot tire is very good. On the tire and beating the tire off, we use a long screw drive with a cheater for more leverage.

A good video fwiw

Not only does this save money, it teaches you how to fix the problem by yourself! Knowledge is power!

5 years later - we ALL need to start learning to do for ourselves - it hard to find good service people for a 'decent' cost - thank you for taking the time - enjoyed watching - God bless

Put a ratchet strap around the tire and tighten it when setting the bead. It helps a LOT.

Out-freakin-standing! After watching this, I'm dragging my son into the garage this saturday to put the new tires on his quad. He should learn this, too.

Hey Farm Dad, my 1964 John Deere garden tractor needed a new front tire. The local JD shop gave me a 3day to week time estimate.
After watching your video I had to try it myself. Being 75yr old with replaced knees I had to think of a way to stabilize the tire while prying the new tire on the rim. Since kneeling on it was getting uncomfortable l kept losing the opposite side while prying the tire into place. I put a c-clamp on one side while prying the other side around the rim! The c-clamp kept one did in place while I worked the other side. It worked perfectly. I thought I’d share this technique with you as I feel we are kindred spirits. Thanks for your enthusiastic video.

I did your trick for breaking the bead on my garden tractor tire with a 2x6 and my car. It worked like a champ! I fought with other ones for hours trying to break the bead with a bench vise and a spud bar. Thank you so much for this.

This fellow is great! I bribed my mechanic with cookies to mount a new tire bought on line. With this info, I mount the tire myself and eat the cookies! Letting the tires warm in the sun is a big help!

I've got a friend who once worked in a tire shop for a long time. I swear he could take off and remount any tire with not much more than a Popsicle stick! Like you, he puts his entire weight and whole body into the project. My dad ran a service station for a long time and I watched the guys fix flats all the time. After watching people like you and those guys make it look easy, which I know it really isn't, I am tempted to give it a try myself! I enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing it.

What I loved about this video:
Mentioned the simple tools we can use if we have them, then proceeded to show us the hard way if we don't.
Never once heard a word of frustration - I know I have when using screwdrivers on my mower tires...
Honest response at the end.
What I didn't like:
Nothing.
Great video man! You've got another subscriber! Looking forward to other tips that I know will help me!

Love this down to earth video. My dad and I used to change his tires on his pickup truck and car the same way. We used to break the bead by putting our heels and pressing up and down, that was in the early 50's, it worked then. Your way of breaking the beads with your wife's car is the only way to go. Thanks for being honest. God Bless...

Quick tip: To put a lot of air into your tire with the valve stem removed, push the quick connect on the end of your air hose onto the valve stem of the rim and get a whole lot more air to bead seen the tire on the rim. When both beads are pop'ed on remove the quick connect from the valve stem and insert the and insert the valve into the stem them air up to the desired pressure using an air chuck on your air hose. Your welcome !

Thanks for the video, really helped me changed 2 tires. I used a bobcat to drive on the tires to unseat the bead, worked great. Also I have a stove in my shop and I put new tires in front of the blower, turning tires around periodically, the heat really help the stiff tires loosen up a bit. Took no time to mount after they heated up. I would recommend replacing the valve stems, you don't want to mount a new tire only to discover after that the old stem is no good.

Appreciate the video. You made it look fairly easy but when I did it I’m pretty sure my kids (who were “overseeing” the project) learned about 13 new cuss words 😂

You make good points! Changing your own tires saves money and time, and can be fun (unless you're working on an extra stubborn wheel). Either way, it's good experience to have under your belt.
