NEW 2024 MIZUNO IRONS - LONGER Distance For SLOWER Golf Swings!?

I'm SO CONFUSED By The NEW Mizuno JPX 925 Irons

These New Irons Are BRILLIANT BUT THERE'S 1 BIG PROBLEM £?

Just picked up a set of 923 hotmetal ( fully fitted) and I gotta say these things are fantastic, the sound and feel are incredible, the distance and accuracy are right on.
I paid 1099cdn and feel I got a great deal.
These are my first set of fully fitted clubs and couldn’t be happier that I went with Mizuno. I tried several different irons ( Cobra, Wilson, titleist) and the feel was what won me over with the Mizuno.

Fitted and bought the 923 hot metal pro this spring and they are great! I’m 64 yrs old and a 6.8 hdcp hitting the 7 iron up to 165 and pitching wedge close to 130! And he is right about the landing angle but I will sacrifice that for the distance just have to adjust for a little run out

I just ordered a set of these, during the fitting we adjusted the shaft choice for a higher window and good landing angle, I will fit the ball when I get them also I found them quite a bit less then other name brands in the same category .

I cannot wait to collect my 925 standard set. To be honest I am happy to trade the stoping power for distance but with the greater offset, I reached 45 degree landing angle. 😊

I just like that when the new clubs come out, the older ones get cheaper. Honestly, it’s great that people keep buying new clubs because it really suppresses the second hand market.

Nickel-Chromoly is not a weighting technology. It is a metal that allows them to thin the face to make the face more responsive (hotter). What you are talking about with the weighting is Tungsten, which is placed low in the head and near the face in order to increase launch angle. Tungsten is not in the short irons.

Love your work James, always easy to absorb.

I just got fitted and ended up getting the Callaway Apex AI 300 clubs. I'm a senior and the new clubs are just more stronger lofted than older clubs. So, my distances are basically all the same but adjusted 1 club higher to account for the stronger loft. My 9 is about 145, where my old 8 was 145 etc. I don't feel that I'm gaining any real distance, just hitting a different club. I'm hoping after I get used to them that my dispersion gets better, and with the newer technology hopefully the misses won't be as bad.

I have the JOX 921 Forged. Not so strong lofted, short irons have plenty of spin. I will be keeping them aa while. Nice videos James!

James if my 9 iron covered that distance and stopped in 10 feet I would be delighted 😀

Your point about landing angles is super relevant, James. I bought a set of new Forged Tec X irons last year without paying full attention to all the numbers during the fitting. Custom fitted off the 7i (27deg) they went miles (for me) at the time. I got so hung up on distance I completely overlooked the descent angle. When I tried them out on the course last summer they came in so low they just wouldn’t hold the greens. I parked them and looked for something with more loft. Picked up a set of used but mint Wilson D9 Forged irons for no money, and have been super happy with them. Sensible lofts, so they stop on the greens, and with a slightly lighter shaft, the distance is perfect for me as a senior - 7i 150 ish yards. I worry that the increasing focus on distance from manufacturers might be not be good for the game. You have to have some serious swing and ball speed to get these irons to perform - you’re in the 90’s and they still don’t stop, what about when you’re 15-20mph slower? Hopeless.

Great review and probably a very good club for a mid to high handicap golfer, looks stunning but then again most mizuno irons do

In addition to sound, harmonics also include vibration. The clubs were likely designed to reduce the resonance harmonics, which that sharp stinging feeling you get in your hands on a mis-hit.

I was thinking of selling my 2021 stelth irons and getting these. Watching this video got me thinking im better off with my older set, they don't go as far but they stop fast on hard greens. Not sure i need a 7 iron that travels 200 yards either. In the US they would cost me around 1300$, thats a bit much. Thanks for the review, helped me make up my mind about my irons.

Your concern about Mizuno not suiting mid to high handicappers is, IMHO a bit wrong. I play 921 Hot Metal Pros and play off 14 and I’ve got to be honest, they are bloody awesome. They feel like butter, sound amazing and I get decent distance from them too. And as for your sacred turf-interaction, you can’t beat these things. I traded in MP20 HMB’s for them at Golf Clubs 4 Cash because although the HMB’s felt like nothin on earth when I connected well, they just didn’t suit me. Broke my heart to off-load such beautiful clubs but rally glad I did. The old Mizuno phrase still rings true today I reckon, Nothing feels like a Mizuno

Great channel james. Prob do more reviews than anyone out there !! One question ?
What in your opinion is the best golf club that's ever been made ? Can be anything from driver to putter

You are all about value. Do a video on Tour Edge irons, Hot Launch and Exotics. Both are great values. Have the Ping 430 irons and driver and bought the Tour Edge Hot Launch 524 irons for our FLA condo, love them! Have graphite shafts and they are same lie specs as my 430’s but those are steel shafts. Playing the TE’s now routinely and looking to trade my Pings for the same TE’s or something else. Played my best rounds the last 2 weeks with the TE’s. 85, 83. Oh yeah the TE HL were 1/2 the price of my 430’s!

Im still playing the 921 and very reluctant to change them im a mid hcp golfer and my clubs still have plenty of life in them still.

I had the Hot Metal Pro first time round and they were the same as your test now - strong but lacked stopping power

Maybe use the 925 pro 5 and 6 iron blended with a 245 pro set?
