It’s not important how Luther died! 🙏🏾🙏🏾It’s important how he lived! Luther gave his gift of music to the world! His time on earth was amazing! He used his gifts and talents of singing to bless the world.. We must look at how we are living and what we leave behind.

I wish he knew that no matter his sexuality l loved his music. Our prom song theme was here, and now, and this left a permanent mark with Fort Knox High School class of 91. Like our school theme, the eagles continue to soar high like an eagle Luther Vandross.

I will personally ADORE Luther Vandross no matter WHAT he did in his spare time, WHO he loved or was attracted to, or whether or not he or anybody else chose to share those decisions with the rest of the world!! A talent like his is extremely rare, and I feel honored and blessed to have walked this world in his time!! NO EQUAL!!

OK, but....not one word is spoken in this video as to the timeline and incredibly dark backdrop of Luther's rise to stardom. Maybe because it is too painful to consider? Just coming out at that time was enough of a challenge and yes, probably would've had a negative effect on his commercial viability, but coming out during a horrific epidemic no doubt made it even more difficult as there was in those early nightmare years when HIV was a medical puzzle little support for gay men diagnosed with AIDS. Instead the usual shame-mongers and religious hypocrites who claim to believe "God is love" went self-righteously public with their hate, labeling the disease a punishment from God. I'm very sure that atmosphere must've affected Luther's decision to keep his true sexual identity under wraps. The man may have indeed been too terrified of HIV to even enjoy his true sexuality or embark upon the kind of romance he longed for. .

We never cared about his sexuality that had nothing to do with us !!His music was 🔥& he was a trailblazer. If he told his personal business, people would have tried to make it bigger of a deal compared to his music .He was a smart man keep people out of your business.

You already talk about this in another video I remember

It's sad that Luther felt he had to hide his sexuality and live his life shrouded in secrecy. But truth be told we already knew that Luther was gay for a very long time and it didn't have any effect on how much we adored him and respected his as an artist.
