Pulmonary and critical care physician Dr. Martin Tobin on Thursday testified in ex-police officer Derek Chauvin’s murder trial that George Floyd died as a result of having a low level of oxygen, which caused brain damage and caused his heart to stop.

The doctor explained in detail how the lungs take in air and how a knee on Floyd's neck, combined with other factors, prevented Floyd from taking in enough oxygen to breathe properly and ultimately led to his death.

Tobin also explained how the placement of the handcuffs, combined with Floyd being pushed into the street, made it difficult for his body, to try and take in air to breathe.

"It was almost to the effect as if a surgeon had gone in and removed the lung," said the doctor.

Floyd, 46, died in May of 2020 in police custody. A video showed then-Officer Chauvin kneeling on his neck for several minutes.

When Floyd stopped complaining they should have checked his pulse and give CPR with or without an overdose.

From this doctor's point of view, George Floyd was being tortured to dead. He didn't say it out loud but he meant it.

Common sense alone would dictate that when someone says they can't breath, someone hopefully nearby with a brain would take that at face value and make sure they can, then proceed with what other activity they were into .

What is Chauvin constantly writting down ? ...his jail letters to his family ?

Imagine thinking a toxicology report is racist.

This is quite literally more pathetic then the soviet trials conducted for 70ish years. Sorry America 🇺🇸 you guys and everyone else lost a long time ago 😓

I don't think I have ever seen so many key witnesses for the prosecution all stating in essence that this was murder. When I say "Key" witnesses I am in fact referring to Police Chiefs, Training Officers, Supervisors, Medical Examiners, Police Surgeons, Coroners, EMT's, Off duty Fire Fighters, just about everybody that would normally testify for the defence. Chauvin is guilty, the world and his Uncle knows that and for the sake of Civil Society in teh USA and around the world, this had better not be swept under the rug.

Dr. Martin Toby's testimony is unbelievable to hear. No one deserves to die like that. Condolences to the Ford family. This whole thing is wrong, is this what our world has become?

Why don’t they mention he was overdosed on drugs and he said he couldn’t breathe before he was even in restrained on the ground.

A cause of death is determined by a medical examiner. Dr. Martin Tobin, a pulmonary specialist who works in critical care.

Video doesn't make clear how much if any pressure was applied to the neck.

Pretty sad to see all these armchair doctors who think they know more than the expert pulmonologist.. maybe try listening to his evidence..

since nobody is refuting this basic fact i will post it on top for anyone with an open mind. under our legal system the prosecution has to prove BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT that a person is guilty. the defence has the easier task of finding some wiggle room in the prosecutions case. could some other explanation also have the same outcome? once Nelson got a prosecution witness to admit Fentanyl causes shortness of breath and high carbon dioxide that is doubt number one against the prosecution. doubt numbet two was when Nelson got the police chief to admit the photo evidence of Chauvin's knee only looked like it was on Floyd's neck. From another angle you could see it was on the shoulder. Doubt number three was when the defence produced evidence that Minneapolis Police are trained in the "maximal restraint technique" which proved the police was a liar when he said the police never learned that technique.

So I guess the amount of drugs in his system don’t really matter. He was already dying when he was walking to the squad car, he was complaining about not being able to breathe. Who paid this doctor off?

That’s what a drug over dose will do .
