In this 3 microphone sample comparison I compare the A7Sii internal mics with Rycote Micro Windjammer, Rode Videomic Pro with Micover Windscreen and the Sennheiser MKE 600 with Rycote Classic Softie.

P.S. The video looks quite rubbish on the A7Sii in this video. I had been playing around with Picture Profiles and didn't realise I had left it on - a danger when filming yourself!

I still use the MKE 600 thanks to this video of yours, but for some reason, the Softie didn't turn out to be as good as this video makes it seem to be (even after sealing up the air leaks through the microphone's switches etc. and around the Softie's opening, as recommended by Rycote).

I've replaced the Softie with Rycote's Large Super-Shield and Windjammer (on a "front-to-back" mounting bar with the camcorder at the front, a rechargeable battery-powered Phantom Power supply in the middle and the Super-Shield's handle at the back) and the wind noise is *much* further reduced compared with the Softie.

Hi Adam Troup, How are you securing the Sennheiser to the top of the DSLR camera? I own a Panasonic camcorder and have the plastic piece but no threaded bolt to secure both together.

Hey man! what a brilliant review. I’ve been given a Sony ECM-44B mic but it has a XLR so doesn’t fit into my Sony A7s ii. Can you recommend a cable which will allow me to use it with my camera!

I just got the Rode video mic pro today! I noticed you turned the level in the camera down instead of switching to -10db on the mic, is there a reason for that? I'm just starting to play with it...
