Irene and Christian love each other and have been married for many years. To receive the blessing of Irene's family, they travel to Tanzania.

When Irene Thadei Leony announced that she had fallen in love with a German, her Tanzanian family was shocked. Her friends were also convinced that the German had ulterior motives. Despite their resistance, Christian Kreisel – an emergency doctor from Marburg – asked Irene for her hand. Married in a civil ceremony in Germany, they also went through a traditional ritual in Irene's home country to receive the family's blessing. Today, the couple live with their two daughters in Marburg, Germany. Christian dreams of moving to Tanzania where he wants to work there as a doctor – but Irene's unenthusiastic. What's life between the two worlds like for the family? A report by Udo Kilimann and Jule Sommer.

I too married out of my race as a woman of color and have children as well, and I can say to Irene it’s very advantageous for your girls to have a connection to their Mothers homeland! German culture will not be enough for them to feel emotionally, spiritually whole later on in life! Christian is quite right to want Tanzanian adventures for his children… especially with European discrimination, and social difficulties emerging more lately. Perhaps a nice compromise of a few years experiences & connection, especially while the girls are young…
I believe that the richness of Africa will bring good luck to your children. At least I pray so!❤

I'm East African close neighbor of Tanzania. I'm living in USA and I'll kill to move back to my country with a husband who's privileged to make a living in my country.
I miss the daily beautiful weather in my country, the organic food. I suffer from Vitamin D deficiency on a regular basis and I have to be top of my levels to make sure they're efficient
My sister works with an International organization (East African countries, with 3 months in Tanzania on women/children health.
Always, my request is for her bring me the Tanzania peanuts and vanilla.
These peanuts are the most organic from East Africa, very tiny but loaded with all the best natural fats for your body.
The vanilla is absolutely amazing.
Tanzania recognizes the global warming problems and the government has invested in a different type of farming--especially with cattle. Teaching farmers to give land time recover upto years ...

She’s gorgeous hands down. They appear to be a loving family. If I were them I’d probably split my time between Germany and Tanzania. It’s always good when possible to expose children to the world especially if it is their cultural heritage.

These days I don’t know if Germans have gotten any more accepting of outside cultures or those whose backgrounds are not European but for the mental health of their children they are probably better off in Tanzania these days. Europe seems to be taking a rightward turn which is decidedly anti-immigrant.

Wasn’t Tanzania once German East Africa?
